Bandung Great Sale (BGS) 2026 has received positive reception from the public. The Bandung City Government recorded approximately 8,000 people attended this shopping tourism event across its three-day implementation from 21 to 23 August 2026 at Laswi Heritage.
This figure was calculated based on visitor barcode scan data for all attendees entering the event venue.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that public enthusiasm serves as a positive signal for the renewed Bandung Great Sale concept. This updated framework does not only rely on on-site transactions at the event, but also connects visitors with retail centres across the entire city of Bandung.

"Based on visitor barcode scans, almost 8,000 people have entered the venue over these three days of Bandung Great Sale," Farhan stated during a press address in Bandung.
Farhan confirmed that the Bandung City Administration is still finalising calculations for total transaction volume and full economic impact generated throughout the BGS 2026 period.
According to the Mayor, success of the event cannot be measured purely by visitor headcount. The far more critical indicator is the scale of economic circulation generated for local business operators through this shopping activity.
"We project the economic turnover created just from this three-day BGS period, including transactions across all participating malls, will reach between IDR 1 billion to IDR 1.5 billion," he explained.
171 MSMEs Join Bandung Great Sale
Bandung Great Sale 2026 did not only feature established commercial brands. A total of 171 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) operators also participated in this event, which is held as part of the official Bandung Shopping Month series.
Head of Bandung City Trade and Industry Agency Ronny Ahmad Nurudin confirmed that participating business operators represent a diverse range of sectors.
"This is part of the Bandung Shopping Month programme. Bandung Great Sale is the flagship peak event of this series, and at Laswi Heritage we host 171 business operators spanning fashion, culinary, handicraft sectors, as well as local community groups," stated Ronny.
The inclusion of MSMEs became one of the core attractions of BGS 2026. Visitors could not only browse Bandung's signature fashion and handicraft products, but also enjoy a wide selection of local culinary offerings.
All participating business operators went through a formal curation process prior to the event. This step was implemented to guarantee product quality, as well as to properly showcase Bandung's leading flagship local products.
With this concept, Bandung Great Sale is intended to function beyond just a mass discount event, and also act as a platform to introduce local products to both the general public and visiting tourists.
Shopping Tourism Emerges As New City Attraction
Farhan assessed that the high visitor turnout demonstrates positive public acceptance for this year's Bandung Great Sale concept. The event was made significantly more diverse by integrating business operators, community groups and culinary vendors within one unified programme.
"These three days have run very well. This is the new BGS concept. In my view this is an excellent model, because we are not only hosting businesses with their respective product brands, but also providing space for community groups to trade, alongside a very complete range of culinary options," he remarked.
Bandung City Government Targets Wider Economic Circulation
Implementation of BGS 2026 forms part of the Bandung City Government's strategy to boost local trade activity and public consumption levels.
Alongside encouraging direct on-site transactions at the event venue, the administration also hopes visitors will travel to other participating retail centres registered under the Bandung Great Sale programme.
This approach ensures economic benefits do not remain concentrated only at Laswi Heritage, but instead spread out to business operators and commercial hubs across the entire city of Bandung.
Ronny added that this year's event targets are also designed to grow tourist arrival numbers alongside local shopping activity.
"Our main targets are of course to increase economic circulation in Bandung City, as well as boost tourist and shopping visits to the city. We are aiming for results that exceed last year's achievement," he concluded.
