Shin Tae-yong Satisfied, Persija Crushes Brisbane Roar 4-0 Ahead of the Super League

Persija Jakarta crushed Brisbane Roar 4-0 in an international friendly match at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta, on Saturday. Persija head coach Shin Tae-yong assessed that the Macan Kemayoran players delivered performance that met all expectations.

Alexander Jeremejeff was the standout player for Persija's victory, scoring two goals. Kerim Memija contributed one additional goal, while the fourth goal came from an own goal by Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis.

This result provides vital momentum for Persija ahead of the 2026/2027 Super League campaign.

Jeremejeff Creates Early Threats

Jeremejeff began testing the opposition defence before the match had even completed one full minute. Receiving a pass from Witan Sulaeman, the Swedish striker launched a first-time shot that flew just over the crossbar.

In the 13th minute, Rio Fahmi's powerful volley struck the crossbar.

One minute later, Persija was awarded a penalty which Jeremejeff converted flawlessly, putting Persija 1-0 ahead.

Brisbane Roar attempted to seize control of the match by increasing ball possession, but Michael Valkanis' squad struggled to find gaps to penetrate Persija's defensive line.

Persija Run Rampant In The Second Half

After the half-time break, Persija stepped up their aggression and added two goals within a 10 minute period.

Kerim Memija first doubled Persija's advantage before Jeremejeff netted his second goal, extending the scoreline to 3-0.

Brisbane Roar pushed for a reply goal. Their clearest opportunity arrived in the 73rd minute, when Hosine Bility connected with a cross from Sebit James Ngor, only to send his attempt wide of Persija's goal.

Persija deepened the visitors' disappointment when goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis lost control of the ball and knocked it into his own net.

This sealed a comprehensive 4-0 victory for the home side.

Shin Tae-yong Satisfied With Performance

Persija head coach Shin Tae-yong expressed satisfaction with his squad's display.

"Naturally I am happy that we won this match. I also thank all the players, they performed extremely well," Shin stated after the final whistle.

This win over Brisbane Roar extends Persija's unbeaten pre-season run. Prior to this friendly, Macan Kemayoran had beaten PSMS 4-1 and Arema FC 3-1 during the 2026 President's Cup.

Persija also secured consecutive 2-1 victories against Police Tero and Chiangrai United during their training camp in Thailand.

Valkanis Admits Persija Were Far Better Prepared

On the opposition bench, Brisbane Roar head coach Michael Valkanis acknowledged that Persija held a major advantage in match readiness.

"As I stated yesterday, this was always going to be a very tough test for us. Persija are much further along in their pre-season: they start their domestic league next week, while we are still six weeks away from the beginning of our own season," Valkanis explained.

The gap in preparation stage between the two teams was clearly visible throughout the match. Persija are on the verge of their first official competitive fixture, while Brisbane Roar still have an extended pre-season period remaining.
