Persib Bandung continues to finalize preparations ahead of their fixture against Manila Digger in the 2026/2027 AFC Champions League (ACL) II play-off match. This tie is scheduled to take place at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, on Monday 31 August 2026.
Persib Bandung defender Julio Cesar has observed positive progress in the team's preparations following a series of training sessions. According to the Brazilian player, the squad is increasingly ready for this crucial fixture.
Beyond physical improvements, Julio has also noted that communication between players is starting to develop much better. This is a key asset for Persib, especially as this season's squad has undergone a number of changes with the arrival of several new players.

"Our physical condition is also continuing to improve. I believe by 31 August, we will be fully ready to compete in this play-off round," Julio stated firmly.
Persib Continuously Building Team Cohesion
Julio assessed that unifying the team's playing style presents its own challenge for Persib Bandung at the start of the 2026/2027 season. The arrival of multiple new faces means players require time to understand each other's characteristics and playing styles.
Nevertheless, this integration process has shown positive development over the past few weeks.
Julio explained that team cohesion is not only required to build internal communication, but also forms one of the critical factors when Persib faces high-pressure matches such as the ACL II play-offs.
Persib previously gained valuable experience from a number of pre-season matches. The club, nicknamed Maung Bandung, competed in the 2026 President's Cup and Dewata Challenge Series as part of preparations for the upcoming season.
From these two pre-season campaigns, Julio believes Persib gained valuable lessons that can be applied to raise performance levels ahead of facing Manila Digger.
Julio Cesar Warns Against Underestimating Manila Digger
While Persib enter this fixture with high confidence, Julio does not want his side to underestimate Manila Digger. He stressed that full concentration is required for this ACL II play-off tie, as the opposition have the capacity to put up a serious fight.
Persib will need to perform at their best from the very first whistle in order to maximise their chances of progressing to the next stage.
Julio's optimism is also backed by the depth of Persib's squad. He noted that the team has a large pool of quality players capable of covering every position.
This situation provides the coaching staff with far more options when selecting the starting line-up and matchday squad for this important fixture.
"Persib is growing stronger, and right now we have great quality players in our ranks. But of course, we still have to prove this out on the pitch," Julio remarked.
This statement makes clear that quality on paper is not enough. Persib will still have to demonstrate their actual ability with their on-field performance when they face Manila Digger.
ACL II Group Stage Spot On The Line
The match against Manila Digger carries huge significance for Persib Bandung's 2026/2027 Asian continental campaign.
Should they secure victory, Persib will advance to the ACL II group stage. Maung Bandung would then be placed in Group E alongside established Asian sides FC Seoul, Melbourne City FC and The Cong-Viettel.
With this draw confirmed, beating Manila Digger will open the door for Persib to compete once again at the continental Asian level.
Julio Cesar and his teammates now have the chance to demonstrate the progress the team has made throughout their pre-season preparations. All of Persib's focus is now fixed on one single target: securing their ticket to the 2026/2027 ACL II group stage.
