Indonesia National Team, Vietnam, and Thailand are preparing for the November 2026 FIFA Matchday. All three Southeast Asian nations have arranged separate match schedules to utilise the international break taking place 9–17 November this year.

For Indonesia, this window presents a critical opportunity to maintain momentum after winning the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. This trophy is a historic milestone for the Garuda Squad, ending a 35-year wait for the nation's first senior men's international title.

Coming off this success, John Herdman's side have shifted focus towards their next major target: the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. The November international fixtures are designed as core preparation for competing at the continental level.

Indonesia has confirmed one friendly fixture against Jordan, scheduled to be held at Amman International Stadium on 13 November.

This away match will give Herdman the chance to evaluate his squad against opposition outside the Southeast Asian region. Beyond assessing on-pitch performance, the fixture will also be used to refine team structure and settle on the strongest possible lineup ahead of the Asian Cup.

Indonesia's full Match Schedule remains incomplete however. The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) is still sourcing a second opponent to fill their FIFA Matchday window, with no official announcement on the additional fixture made to date.

This contrasts sharply with Vietnam. Nicknamed the Golden Stars, Vietnam have already locked in two friendly matches: against Chinese Taipei on 11 November, then Kyrgyzstan on 15 November.

Both fixtures will be hosted on home soil. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has confirmed Thien Truong Stadium as the venue for both matches.

With two confirmed opponents, Vietnam will be able to test their full squad across two complete fixtures within this single international break.

Selecting opposition from outside Southeast Asia will provide varied tactical challenges as the side prepares for upcoming competitive commitments.

Thailand meanwhile has taken an alternative approach, by hosting the King's Cup. This mini tournament organised by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) will feature four participating nations: Thailand, Oman, Bahrain and Tajikistan.

The King's Cup acts as Thailand's preparation platform to test their squad against non-Southeast Asian opposition. The calibre of Oman, Bahrain and Tajikistan will present distinct challenges for the host nation ahead of future international fixtures.

Thailand holds a dominant historical record at this tournament, with the War Elephants having lifted the King's Cup trophy 16 times. The side will be aiming to defend this positive track record when playing in front of their home supporters.

The contrasting schedules adopted by the three nations demonstrate differing strategic approaches to utilising the November FIFA Matchday window. Indonesia will begin Asian Cup preparations with an away trip to Jordan, Vietnam have opted for two home friendlies, while Thailand will use the four-nation tournament as their primary squad testing ground.

For Indonesia, confirmation of their second match opponent remains the most awaited update ahead of this international break. Having already secured the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, the Garuda Squad now have the platform to build winning momentum and raise their readiness levels before facing the far stiffer challenge of the 2027 Asian Cup.
