Sassuolo failed to bring home any points during their away fixture at Frosinone for the seventh matchweek of the 2026/2027 Serie A Italian League, on early morning WIB Saturday 17 October. Without their Indonesian National Team Defender Jay Idzes, I Neroverdi were forced to acknowledge the home side's superiority, falling to a 2-4 defeat at the Benito Stirpe Stadium.
Jay's absence became one of the main talking points of this match. The 26-year-old defender is still undergoing injury rehabilitation and was not included in Sassuolo's match squad, even though he has already resumed team training.
Sassuolo struggled to contain Frosinone's aggressive gameplay. Their backline conceded four goals, with Antonio Raimondo emerging as the decisive player after scoring a hat-trick in front of the home supporters.

Frosinone took attacking initiative and opened the scoring in the 9th minute via Calo Giacomo. Sassuolo however responded quickly with an equaliser.
Domenico Berardi levelled the scoreline in the 15th minute. Berardi's goal briefly raised Sassuolo's hopes of controlling the match, before their defence once again came under sustained pressure from the home team.
Frosinone regained the lead through Antonio Raimondo. The home striker netted two quick consecutive goals in the 26th and 30th minute, putting his side 3-1 ahead.
Sassuolo kept their hopes alive by pulling one back seven minutes later. Kristian Thorstvedt registered his name on the scoresheet, bringing the score to 2-3 heading into half time.

Sassuolo pushed to close the deficit as the second half kicked off. Their hopes were dealt a major blow however when Raimondo scored once more in the 57th minute.

No further goals were registered for the rest of the match. Frosinone secured the 4-2 win, while Sassuolo returned home without collecting any points.
Sassuolo Drops To 11th Place, Jay Idzes Remains In Recovery
This defeat pushes Sassuolo down to 11th position in the provisional Serie A standings, with a total of 8 points from 7 matches played.
Conversely, the three points lifts Frosinone to 5th place with 13 points accumulated. This win over Sassuolo marks a positive result for the promoted side as they compete in the upper half of the early league table.
Meanwhile, Jay Idzes continues his injury rehabilitation process, despite having already returned to training with his teammates.
The Indonesian National Team defender is expected to provide additional defensive options once he is cleared fit for competitive match action.
