Lamine Yamal Opens Barcelona's Lead
Barcelona took full control of the match right from the opening minute. Pressure deployed by Hansi Flick's squad paid off just 10 minutes after kickoff.
Lamine Yamal put Barcelona ahead with a curled strike that landed perfectly into the top-left corner of Alvaro Valles' goal. This strike brought Yamal's total contribution tally this La Liga season to 13, consisting of 8 goals and 5 assists.
Real Betis attempted to fight back after falling behind. The home side's efforts succeeded in the 27th minute, when Valentin Gomez converted a pass from Pablo Fornals to level the score at 1-1.
Barcelona pushed forward again to reclaim the lead. In the 41st minute, Rodri registered his name on the scoresheet with a headed finish from Fermin Lopez's corner delivery, putting Barcelona back ahead 2-1.
Real Betis briefly found the net again through Giovani Lo Celso just two minutes later. However the referee disallowed the goal, as Juan Hernandez was ruled to have committed handball during the goal buildup.
Barcelona retained their 2-1 lead when the first half concluded.
Barcelona Extend Goals, Real Betis Lose A Player
Entering the second half, Barcelona maintained their aggressive game approach. Gabriel Jesus stretched the lead to 3-1 in the 51st minute after finishing an assist from Yamal.
Real Betis did not surrender immediately. Just two minutes later, Ezzalzouli scored to narrow the gap to 2-3, granting the home side new hope to chase a draw.
Tempers flared after multiple Barcelona players protested the Real Betis goal, claiming Fermin Lopez had been fouled prior to the strike. The tension escalated into an altercation between Yamal and Facundo Bernal.
The referee issued a Red Card to Bernal for the incident. Real Betis were forced to continue the match with 10 players, while Yamal received a yellow card for his involvement.
With the numerical advantage, Barcelona were able to build attacks far more freely. In the 62nd minute, Eric Garcia extended the gap to 4-2 by finishing a knocked down header from Pau Cubarsí during a free kick set piece.
Barcelona's dominance continued until the 81st minute. Dani Olmo scored the fifth goal for his side after receiving a pass from Gabriel Jesus, confirming the 5-2 lead for the Blaugrana.
No further goals were registered for the rest of the match. Barcelona secured all three points, and extended their winning run to nine consecutive matches in the 2026/27 La Liga season.
This result further strengthens Barcelona's position at the top of the league table, while Real Betis dropped points on home ground despite mounting a fighting performance with their two goals.
