Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season after falling 2-4 to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on the third Champions League matchday at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris, on Wednesday. After equalising on two separate occasions, the Blaugrana were unable to withstand the home side's pressure in the closing stages of the match.
PSG played efficiently to secure all three points in this open fixture. Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernandez, Vitinha, and Fabian Ruiz all found the back of the net for the hosts. Meanwhile Barcelona could only respond with goals from Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal.
With this victory, Luis Enrique's squad solidified their position at the top of the Champions League standings with 9 points. In contrast, Barcelona drop down to 5th place having accumulated 6 points so far.

Barcelona arrived at PSG's home ground carrying an impressive run of form at the start of the campaign. However, on away soil in Paris, dominance in possession alone was not enough to claim a result, let alone avoid defeat.
Désiré Doué Opens The Scoring For PSG
PSG threatened right from kickoff. In the 2nd minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia nearly put the home side ahead after latching onto a pass from Fabian Ruiz, only for his effort to strike the post past Joan Garcia.
The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute. Désiré Doué fired a precise strike from outside the penalty area which beat Joan Garcia at full stretch. PSG took this 1-0 lead into the half time interval.
After the restart, Barcelona set about trying to break down the home defence in order to regain control of the match.
In the 55th minute, Xavi Espart made a driving run into the box before finishing off a delivery from Fermin Lopez. Espart's goal levelled the score at 1-1, reigniting Barcelona's hopes of leaving Paris with a positive result.
PSG would not allow this equaliser to stand for long however.
Barcelona Equalise Twice, PSG Pull Clear Late
PSG retook the lead in the 72nd minute. From Désiré Doué's corner delivery, Lucas Hernandez rose highest to head home, Putting the hosts 2-1 ahead.
Barcelona showed their fighting spirit once again seven minutes later. Lamine Yamal capitalised on a lapse in concentration from the PSG backline, dribbled into the penalty area, and finished from a tight angle to level the scores at 2-2 in the 79th minute.
Yamal's goal briefly raised hopes that Barcelona could steal a point, but PSG hit back immediately.
Just two minutes after Barcelona's equaliser, Vitinha restored PSG's advantage. The Portuguese midfielder latched onto a poor clearance from the Barcelona defence, before drilling a low shot from outside the box into the bottom left corner of the goal in the 81st minute.
This goal proved to be the turning point in the final minutes of the game. Trailing once more, Barcelona were forced to push forward in search of an equaliser, which only left space for PSG to extend their lead further.
In the 86th minute, Fabian Ruiz converted Achraf Hakimi's cross at the far post. This goal confirmed a 4-2 victory for PSG, and ended any remaining hope Barcelona had of salvaging something from the match.
