Tiger Woods has been named on the Jupiter Links GC player roster for the 2027 TGL season. Woods' inclusion opens the door for the United States golf legend to return to competitive action, though there is still no confirmation on when he will resume regular tournament play on the Golf Course.

TGL, the tech-driven virtual golf league co-founded by Woods and Rory McIlroy, announced the full player rosters for its third season on Tuesday, 20 October 2026.

Woods is listed as a Jupiter Links GC member following an extended recovery period from back surgery.

The 15-time major champion missed the vast majority of the 2025-2026 TGL season, only making an appearance in the 2026 TGL final round. His last appearance at a professional Golf Tournament was at The Open Championship in July 2024.

Woods being named to the 2027 TGL roster has drawn significant attention, as the golfer's future in competitive golf remains uncertain.

Now 50 years old, Woods has not provided detailed plans for his return to competition after dealing with a series of health issues and undergoing ongoing rehabilitation.

Tiger Woods Still Working Through Physical Recovery

Woods' path back to competition has been far from straightforward. In October 2025, he underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery.

This marked the seventh back operation of his professional career, and his second major back procedure within approximately 12 months, following a microdecompression surgery performed in September 2024.

Prior to that, Woods suffered an Achilles tendon injury while training at home in March 2025. This injury also required surgery, further derailing his efforts to compete at the elite level.

Before the March 2026 car crash, Woods had been progressing with his physical rehabilitation with the goal of competing at The Masters. The accident derailed this comeback plan.

Four days after the crash, Woods announced he would be taking an indefinite break to focus on medical treatment and prioritise his health.

In his public statement released Tuesday evening, he reaffirmed this decision to step away from competition.

"I will be taking time away to undergo medical care and focus on my health," he stated.

This statement marked one of the only public comments Woods has made regarding his condition following the car crash, which also resulted in his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.

As part of legal proceedings in Florida, Woods accepted a plea deal for reduced charges.

He entered a no contest plea to counts of reckless driving and refusal to submit to a legally required chemical test.

Under the terms of the agreement, his driving license was suspended for a period of five years.

Since being discharged from a rehabilitation clinic in Switzerland in May 2026, Woods has made several public appearances, mostly at events associated with the PGA Tour.

He has however not revealed any timeline or plans to return to professional tournament play.

Jupiter Links GC Confirms Five Player Roster

For the 2027 TGL season, Jupiter Links GC will field Tiger Woods, Tom Kim, Max Homa, Keith Mitchell and Akshay Bhatia. This lineup follows the league's decision to expand each team's roster to five players.

TGL also added one new expansion team, Motor City Golf Club, bringing the total number of competing teams for the 2027 season to six. While full player rosters have now been confirmed, the Match Schedule for the third season has not yet been published. The previous season had launched on 28 December.

The TGL format combines traditional golf with advanced technology and virtual match play. This structure allows athletes to compete in a format distinct from standard outdoor professional golf tournaments.

For Woods, participation in the league represents a potential pathway to return to competitive atmosphere without immediately committing to the full schedule of outdoor professional tour events.

That said, his inclusion on the official roster does not guarantee he will actually compete, as his physical condition remains the primary determining factor.
