Chelsea Release Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa, The Blues Pocket IDR 1.5 Trillion

Aston Villa are reported to have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese striker is set to be acquired for a transfer fee of 65 million pounds sterling, or approximately 1.5 trillion Indonesian Rupiah.

According to a report from The Athletic, Aston Villa will pay 47.5 million pounds sterling or around 1.1 trillion Rupiah as Jackson's base transfer fee. The remaining 17.5 million pounds sterling, equivalent to roughly 421.5 billion Rupiah, will be paid as performance bonuses and additional add-ons agreed between both clubs.

Jackson has reportedly agreed to the move to Villa. The transfer of the 25-year-old player is now only pending completion of medical examinations and contract signing procedures.

Jackson Transfer Will Not Disrupt Morgan Rogers Sale Accounting

Jackson's move has drawn attention as it comes shortly after Chelsea completed the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a transfer fee of 117 million pounds sterling, or approximately 2.8 trillion Rupiah.

This sequence initially raised questions over whether the two transactions would be classified as a player swap deal. UEFA has formal regulations governing transfers conducted within a 45-day window during a single transfer period.

If a transfer is ruled to be part of a player exchange, the full profit from a player sale cannot be recognised in club financial statements.

This situation would have posed problems for Aston Villa, who are required to carefully comply with European football financial regulations.

However, Jackson's transfer is confirmed not to fall under this classification. As such, his move from Chelsea to Villa will not affect the club's financial reporting for the sale of Morgan Rogers.

This means Aston Villa will be able to fully book the Rogers transfer transaction under applicable rules, without Jackson's transfer being treated as part of a linked player exchange.

Jackson Reunites With Unai Emery

The move to Aston Villa sees Jackson reunite with Unai Emery. The pair previously worked together during their time at Villarreal.

Jackson showed positive development under Emery's guidance, scoring 13 goals during that period.

Aston Villa are hopeful that this prior working relationship will help the striker adapt more quickly to the team's playing system.

Jackson's arrival provides extra attacking options for Villa, particularly following the departure of Rogers to Chelsea.

Jackson Had Fallen Out Of Favour At Chelsea

Jackson's future at Chelsea had become uncertain since last season. He was previously loaned out to Bayern Munich, but the German club declined to exercise their option to sign him permanently.

Upon returning to Stamford Bridge, Jackson did still receive opportunities under head coach Xabi Alonso, and was included in Chelsea's pre-season tour squad.

Jackson joined Chelsea in 2023. During his time with The Blues, he recorded 30 goals from 81 appearances across all competitions.

He was also part of the Chelsea squad that won the 2024/2025 Conference League trophy and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Now, Jackson's spell at Stamford Bridge is expected to come to an end imminently. Aston Villa will be his next destination, with Unai Emery awaiting the chance to work once again with the striker he originally developed at Villarreal.
