Indonesia has added another Gold Medal to its collection at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. This latest gold comes from the Archery discipline, secured by Nurisa Dian Ashrifah in the women's individual compound event.

Nurisa confirmed the gold medal after winning the final match against Philippine representative Amaya Amparo Cojuangco at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose, Aichi, Japan on Thursday.

She took the win 139-137 in a tight duel that demanded full concentration right up until the very final arrow.

This victory also sets a new landmark for Indonesia. For the first time in the entire history of the country's Asian Games participation, Indonesia has claimed a gold medal in archery.

Precision became Nurisa's key advantage as pressure spiked during the decisive set. Her arrows landed perfectly on the 10-point mark, securing the Indonesian athlete's win over Cojuangco.

Nurisa's gold breaks Indonesia's long standing record in Asian Games archery. Prior to Aichi-Nagoya 2026, the country's best achievement in this sport had only ever been silver medals.

The previous silver medal was won by Tatang Budiman, Donald Pandiangan and Suradi Rukimin in the men's recurve team event at the 1982 Asian Games.

Indonesia won another silver through Danahuri Dahliana, Rusena Gelanteh and Purnama Pandiangan in the women's recurve team event at the 1994 Asian Games.

At the 2018 Asian Games, Diananda Choirunisa added another silver to Indonesia's collection in the women's individual recurve event.

Nurisa has pushed Indonesian archery past this long standing threshold. This gold from the women's individual compound event marks new history, and stands as one of the most significant achievements for the Red and White contingent at Aichi-Nagoya.

With this additional gold, Indonesia has now accumulated five gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games. The four previous golds were earned from the men's Badminton team, Men's Doubles pair Leo Carnando/Daniel Marthin, men's 75kg weightlifting via Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, and women's speed sport climbing through Desak Made.

However, Indonesia's hunt for gold has not ended. Multiple athletes still hold opportunities to add more medals from final matches scheduled for the same day.

In the MLBB esports event, Indonesia is scheduled to face Myanmar for the gold medal match. Meanwhile, the men's speed sport climbing event is also drawing close attention.

Indonesia is fielding two athletes for this discipline: Veddriq Leonardo, 2024 Olympic Games gold medalist, and Aditya Sri Syahrial, the current Asian Games record holder.

Should these opportunities be successfully converted into gold, Indonesia's medal tally at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will continue to climb. Regardless of any future match results however, the name Nurisa Dian Ashrifah has already been permanently written into the history of Indonesian archery.
