Indonesia National Team completed their mission in spectacular fashion. The Garuda Squad crushed Bangladesh 9-2 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK), Jakarta on Thursday 1 October 2026, officially sealing their ticket to the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final.
Indonesia played aggressively from the very first minute. Relentless mounting pressure forced Bangladesh's defensive line to work non-stop against waves of attacks led by Kevin Diks and his teammates.
Indonesia already ran riot in front of goal during the first half. After 45 minutes, Garuda held a 6-1 lead with Mitchell Baker emerging as the standout player after notching a four-goal haul. Indonesia's other two first half goals were scored by Rizky Ridho and Justin Hubner.

Mohammed Shariar Emon scored Bangladesh's only goal of the opening half.
This large advantage put Indonesia in a highly comfortable position as both teams headed for the half time break.
However the match was far from over. After the restart, Indonesia attempted to maintain their attacking intensity even as Bangladesh tightened up their back line.
In the 49th minute, Ole Romeny went down inside the penalty box. Following a full VAR review, the match referee ruled no foul had occurred.
Indonesia created multiple chances across the first 10 minutes of the second half, but none managed to alter the scoreline.
John Herdman made a substitution in the 60th minute, withdrawing Rizky Ridho to bring on Luke Vickery.
This change did not immediately shift the match momentum, as Bangladesh's defensive organisation only grew tighter.
Herdman then adjusted his line-up further, introducing Egy Maulana and Dean James from the bench.
Indonesia's attacking flow returned. Romeny, James and Elkan Baggott all got clear opportunities to extend the lead, only to be denied by a much improved second half performance from Bangladesh goalkeeper Mehedi Srabon.
Romeny did put the ball in the net in the 84th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside by the assistant referee.
As the match entered its closing minutes, Bangladesh began playing with greater attacking boldness, while Indonesia continued to struggle to add to their goal tally.
The long-awaited next goal for Indonesia finally arrived in the 90th minute, when Vickery converted an assist from Romeny.
Bangladesh responded just one minute later. Farhaan Ali Wahid finished a counter attack to pull one back, making the score 7-2.
There was still further drama. During stoppage time, the match was briefly interrupted by an incident following a collision between Romeny and a Bangladesh defender.
Indonesia regained momentum from a dead ball situation. Kevin Diks scored with a headed finish to take the score to 8-2.
Mitchell Baker then added his name to the scoresheet once again, finishing another assist from Romeny. This marked his fifth goal of the match, wrapping up Indonesia's dominant display with a final score of 9-2.
Scoring nine goals at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium confirmed all of Indonesia's hard work had paid off. Alongside recording this emphatic victory, the Garuda squad have now officially secured their place in the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup final match.
