Ducati Lenovo rider Marc Marquez arrives at the Japanese MotoGP round with two core missions. Alongside chasing the all-time most wins record at Mobility Resort Motegi, Marquez also aims to carry forward the sweet memory of sealing the 2025 MotoGP World Championship title at this very circuit.

The Japanese MotoGP will be hosted at the Mobility Resort Motegi Circuit from Friday 2 October through Sunday 4 October. For Marquez, Motegi is far more than just another stop on the MotoGP calendar: it is the location of one of the most defining milestones of his career with Ducati.

Marquez currently holds three Japanese Grand Prix victories. This tally puts him level with Luca Capirossi and Jorge Lorenzo as the riders with the most wins at this circuit, which has hosted MotoGP rounds since 1999.

One additional victory would see Marquez stand alone at the top of the all-time rankings. For this reason, this weekend's race gives the Spanish rider a chance to make history while further cementing his dominance at Motegi.

Marc Marquez's Memories At Motegi

This ambition burns even brighter thanks to Marquez's fond personal history at the track. Last season, he clinched the 2025 MotoGP world title here at Motegi, celebrating the achievement alongside his Ducati team.

Now Marquez returns to the circuit with a new objective. He will channel those past memories into driving energy as he navigates the tight ongoing championship battle.

"The 2025 Japanese Grand Prix left an indelible memory that forged a special bond between myself and the Ducati team. That memory, paired with the incredible warmth from Japanese fans, gives me extra drive going into this weekend," stated Marc Marquez, in comments released by Ducati Lenovo.

"Motegi is a circuit I truly enjoy racing. The goal here is simple: perform well, and fight hard," added the seven-time world Champion.

However this path to victory will not come easily. Marquez will face a field of riders who have hit strong recent form, including Aprilia Racing duo Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi.

Martin and Bezzecchi took second and third place respectively at the preceding Austrian Grand Prix held at the Red Bull Ring. This result confirmed Aprilia now has the race pace to challenge at the front of the field once again.

A further threat comes from Pedro Acosta. The Red Bull KTM rider just claimed his first victory of the season at the Austrian round.

Acosta, nicknamed 'Baby Shark', was the fastest rider on track for the duration of the Austrian Grand Prix race.

For Marquez, the Japanese round also carries critical weight in the world championship Standings. He arrives at Motegi sitting second in the temporary rankings with 294 points.

Jorge Martin currently leads the championship on 306 points. This 12-point gap means results at Motegi have the potential to completely shift the dynamic of the title fight.

Securing victory is Marquez's top priority to close this gap. Should he take first place at Motegi once again, he will not only cut the points deficit, but also etch his name as the most successful rider in the history of the Japanese Grand Prix.

With three prior wins at the track, proven experience at Motegi, and the memory of last season's title triumph behind him, Marquez has every reason to push aggressively this weekend. But Martin, Bezzecchi and Acosta will all be standing in his way, ready to make this mission far from straightforward.
