Touching Message from Lionel Messi Ahead of His Final Match with the Argentina National Team

Megastar Lionel Messi is preparing to say goodbye to the Argentina National Team. Ahead of the friendly match against Benin at Mas Monumental Stadium, Buenos Aires, the 39-year-old player delivered an emotional message to close his long journey with the Albiceleste.

In a video uploaded by Adidas' official X account on Wednesday, Messi spoke about the meaning of the Argentina jersey throughout his career. For him, this uniform is not just match equipment, but a vital part of his life and identity.

This message came after Messi decided to end his international career with Argentina. He wishes to leave the national team at peace, having given every bit of his ability through a journey filled with both immense pressure and historic achievements.

"The time has come. I leave with peace in my heart. I gave everything. This jersey was my dream. My pride. And my life. Thank you for loving me this much. I will always carry it with me," Messi stated in the posted video.

These words capture the essence of Messi's bond with Argentina. After carrying the weight of an entire nation's hopes for so many years, he has chosen to step away having reached the absolute peak of his international career with La Albiceleste.

Messi first announced his international retirement via social media on Monday. In an open letter posted to Instagram, he acknowledged this decision was painful, but confirmed the time had finally come to end his long journey representing Argentina.

Throughout his entire international career, Messi always reaffirmed his commitment to give everything he had for his country. He sought to bring both joy and pride to the people of Argentina through Football.

This journey yielded four major trophies. Messi led Argentina to win the Copa America 2021, 2022 Finalissima, World Cup 2022 and Copa America 2024.

The crowning moment arrived in Qatar 2022. Messi lifted the World Cup title that had been his greatest career dream for decades, closing one of the most legendary chapters in Argentina International Football history.

One final match will act as his farewell stage. After 196 caps and 115 goals for Argentina, Messi is set to play his last game wearing the jersey that has stood as the symbol of his dreams and pride since childhood.

There is nothing left for Messi to prove with Argentina. He lived through difficult periods, harsh criticism, final defeats, and ultimately stood at the top as a world Champion.

The fixture against Benin will be far more than an ordinary friendly match. It will be Messi's final appearance on the pitch as an Argentina player, and a final moment for supporters to say thank you to the man who carried them through so many shared stories.
