Borneo FC Samarinda opened their 2026/27 ASEAN Club Championship campaign by taking one point away from Buriram United's home ground. The Pesut Etam held the hosts to a 0-0 Draw on Group A Matchday 1 at Chang Arena, Buriram, Thailand on Wednesday evening WIB.
The match unfolded openly despite Buriram United holding greater possession control. Both sides created scoring opportunities, but none were successfully converted into goals.
Borneo FC carved out the first chance in the 17th minute. Asgal Habib Al Tarik found space inside the penalty box before firing a powerful shot, which was denied by Buriram Goalkeeper Chatchai Bootprom.

The home side responded by ramping up pressure. Caju threatened down the left flank with a driven strike, only for Borneo FC keeper Kadu to parry the effort away.
Borneo FC had to work relentlessly to neutralise the hosts' attacks, with the 0-0 scoreline remaining intact at the half time break.
There was little shift in momentum after the interval. Buriram continued playing aggressively and repeatedly penetrated Borneo FC's defensive area, but consistently failed with their final finishing.
Kadu emerged as a key performer for Borneo FC, keeping their goal unbreached. In the 75th minute, he pulled off a save to stop Eduardo Mancha's speculative long range effort that was heading for the top corner of the net.
Four minutes later, Buriram created another opening following a chaotic scramble right in front of Borneo FC's goal, but the visiting backline successfully cleared the danger.
Borneo FC adjusted their tactics to play on the counter attack, and almost broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute. However, Juan Villa's shot was once again stopped by Bootprom.
Borneo FC gained further advantage when Buriram were reduced to 10 players. Narubadin Weerawatnodom was shown a Red Card shortly before full time.
Pesut Etam attempted to exploit their numerical superiority in the closing minutes, but Buriram's defence held firm to ensure the match finished goalless.
With this draw, both Borneo FC and Buriram United collected one point from their opening Group A fixture. Buriram sits in 3rd position, while Borneo FC occupies 4th place in the provisional Standings.
In the other Group A match, Ho Chi Minh City secured a 1-0 victory over Ratchaburi FC.
Earning a clean sheet point away at Chang Arena provides a strong positive starting foundation for Borneo FC throughout their 2026/27 ASEAN Club Championship journey.
