Alex Martins Proves The Difference For Persebaya

Persebaya dominated right from kickoff during their away trip to Isenmulang's home ground at PKOR Sumpah Pemuda Stadium, Bandar Lampung. The side nicknamed the Green Crocodiles took the attacking initiative and sought to control play, but struggled to find gaps in the host's defensive line.

Isenmulang successfully absorbed pressure until Persebaya broke the deadlock late in the first half.

Persebaya were awarded a penalty after Miguel Pereira was fouled by Fayrushi inside the penalty box. The spot kick was awarded after the match referee reviewed the incident via VAR.

Alex Martins stepped up as the designated taker and converted the penalty cleanly, Putting Persebaya 1-0 ahead.

After the halftime break, Isenmulang attempted to ramp up pressure, launching attacks down both flanks to try and breach Persebaya's defence. However, Persebaya maintained solid organisational structure throughout the second half.

The side managed by Bernardo Tavares also pushed for a second goal to extend their lead, but the 1-0 scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.

This three point haul lifts Persebaya to 4th place in the provisional league table with 8 points. Meanwhile Isenmulang remain stuck in 18th position with just 2 points.

Eduardo Barbosa Brace Ends Madura United's Winning Streak

Over in Kediri, Persik put Madura United under immediate pressure right from the first minute. This high-tempo approach from the White Tigers paid off, as Eduardo Barbosa netted twice before halftime to put the home side in control.

Barbosa opened the scoring in the 9th minute, then added his second of the match in the 25th minute to extend Persik's lead to 2-0. This two goal cushion allowed Persik to dictate the flow of the match comfortably.

Persik head coach Marcos Reina Torres stated this victory was the product of their game plan being executed exactly as intended.

"We stuck to our game plan, we played well, and we got the two goals," Marcos said after the match.

Persik received a further boost late in the first half when Madura United's Dimitar Mitkov was shown a red card. Reduced to 10 men, the away side was forced to prioritise defence to prevent Persik extending their lead further.

For the second half, Marcos adjusted his side's formation, switching from a three-man backline to four defenders. This tactical change helped Persik maintain balance and protect their lead until full time.

The Spanish head coach acknowledged that Madura United have quality players capable of causing real danger if allowed to settle into their usual style of play.

"If you let them play the way they want, they get comfortable and they have good players that can hurt opponents. That is why we worked hard to stop them settling into the game," he explained.

Persik's deliberate shift to a more cautious approach in the second half was designed to protect their result, as the side prioritised securing all three home points over chasing additional goals.

This match result in Kediri moves Persik up to 5th place in the table with 7 points, while Madura United remain in 2nd position on 9 points.

Despite the defeat, Madura United still sit in the upper end of the table, but missed the chance to open up a larger gap over their rivals.
