Manchester City striker Erling Haaland continues to make history in the Champions League. The Norway National Team star reached 60 goals in just 60 matches. This milestone was achieved far faster than Argentine legend Lionel Messi, who required 80 matches to hit the same goal tally.
This record was set when Haaland scored a brace as Manchester City fell 2-4 against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League league phase fixture.
According to Squawka data, Haaland hit the 60-goal mark with his first goal against PSG. He then extended his total to 61 goals after netting a second against the French side in the second half.

Better Than Cristiano Ronaldo, Haaland Premier League's Most Efficient Striker Ever
This achievement underlines Haaland's lethal scoring productivity in Europe's most prestigious club competition. Haaland hit the 60-goal milestone in far fewer matches than Messi, one of the most prolific goalscorers in the entire history of the Champions League.
Surpasses Sergio Aguero's Manchester City Record
His two goals against PSG also saw Haaland overtake Sergio Aguero's record to become All-Time Top Goalscorer for Manchester City in the Champions League.
Haaland now has 38 Champions League goals for City. This figure surpasses Aguero's previous club record of 36 goals in the competition.
This record further cements Haaland's status as one of the most prolific strikers of his generation. With the Champions League campaign still long underway, he has clear opportunity to continue growing his goal tally.
Manchester City Stumble
The 2-4 defeat against PSG leaves Manchester City in 17th position with 3 points. Following this result, Enzo Maresca's side must quickly bounce back to improve their standing in the race for knockout stage qualification.
For Haaland, the night at the Etihad still stood as a stage for historic milestones despite Manchester City failing to secure victory.
He now holds two landmark records: reaching 60 Champions League goals faster than Messi, and becoming Manchester City's all-time top goalscorer in the competition.
