Persija Jakarta Head Coach Shin Tae-yong has flagged Persita winger Rayco Rodriguez as a key threat ahead of the upcoming 2026/2027 Super League fixture at Banten International Stadium, scheduled for Saturday 17 October at 19.00 WIB. Persija hold strong momentum coming into this match, having secured four straight wins from their opening four games of the season.
Shin assessed that Rodriguez possesses the quality to disrupt Persija's defensive line. The winger has emerged as one of the core players driving Persita's positive early campaign, recording 1 goal and 2 assists across his first four appearances.
“Persita Tangerang remain unbeaten so far. From my analysis, their number 7 player Rayco Rodriguez is very dangerous and has the potential to cause us major problems,” Shin stated during the pre-match press conference on Friday.

Shin Tae-yong is not yet satisfied even though Persija Jakarta have won all three of their opening matches in the Super League.
This remark confirms Persija are not only preparing to counter Persita's collective team structure. The visiting side have also identified individual match-winning threats, particularly Rodriguez's movement and creativity on the flanks.
Shin Prepares Strategy To Neutralise Rayco Rodriguez
Shin has devised a specific tactical approach to contain Rodriguez. Tight man-marking is one of the primary options under consideration, designed to restrict the winger from initiating attacks or finding space inside high-risk areas.
“We will need to give him special attention, most notably through dedicated man-marking on their number 7. I believe the final Match Result will also depend heavily on how effectively we neutralise this player,” the South Korean head coach added.
At the same time, Shin warned Persija cannot afford to focus exclusively on Rodriguez, as other members of Persita's squad also carry genuine attacking threat.
Persita have built an unbeaten start to the season, collecting 8 points from four matches via two wins and two draws.
Persija Target Fifth Consecutive Victory
Persija travel for this fixture with high confidence, having won every single one of their opening league matches this season. Macan Kemayoran have previously defeated Borneo FC 1-0, Persib Bandung 2-1, Java United FC 1-0 and PSIM Yogyakarta 4-0.
The comprehensive win over PSIM on 10 October was Persija's most recent result, cementing their place at the top of the league table. That fixture also saw Kwon Chang-hoon make his official debut for Persija, marking the occasion with a goal.
Despite their perfect record so far, Shin has refused to treat this match against Persita as a routine fixture. Instead, he frames this game as a critical test of his squad's ability to maintain consistency through the competitive Super League campaign.
Shin added that this fixture against Persita could become one of the defining turning points for his team this season.
“That is exactly why we have to prepare for this match as thoroughly as possible,” he stated.
Kwon Chang-hoon Confident Persija Will Secure Positive Result
This confidence to extend their winning run has also been echoed by Kwon Chang-hoon. The South Korean attacker confirmed the entire Persija squad has moved on from their previous results and are fully focused on the upcoming challenge.
For Kwon, the victory against PSIM marked a positive start to his career with Macan Kemayoran. While scoring on his debut boosted his personal confidence, he acknowledged that facing Persita will present an entirely new and different test.
“Every player has prepared properly for this match. I am confident we can get a positive result if we execute our gameplan exactly as we have trained,” Kwon said.
Persija will require contributions across their entire squad to preserve their perfect winning record. Meanwhile, Persita hold huge internal motivation to defend their status as one of the last remaining unbeaten sides this early in the season.
The clash at Banten International Stadium is set to be a tightly contested battle. Persija aim to extend their four-match winning streak, while Persita will seek to prove their impressive early season form is not just a temporary run.
