Persija Jakarta faces a critical test in their effort to defend top position in the BRI Super League 2026/27 Standings. The Macan Kemayoran will travel to Dewa United Banten FC's home ground for matchweek 8, hosted at Banten International Stadium, Serang on Saturday 31 October, 19.00 WIB kickoff.
This fixture pits the two highest ranked sides of the early season against each other. Persija lead the table with 18 points from seven matches, while Dewa United trail closely in second place with 14 points.
Per official I.League standings, Persija have recorded six wins and one defeat so far. The capital club boasts strong attacking output with 17 goals scored, having only conceded 6 times. Their +11 goal difference stands as a clear marker of their solid form this campaign.

Dewa United have secured four wins, two draws, and one loss. The Banten Warriors have scored 12 goals while conceding 10. Their +2 goal difference highlights the home side still has significant improvements to make, most notably in defensive stability.
However, league positions are not the only determining factor for this match. Dewa United hold a promising home record: across three fixtures played at Banten International Stadium this season, they remain unbeaten with two wins and one draw.
Shin Tae-yong Warns Persija Against Complacency
Persija enter this fixture with high confidence after a strong start to the season. Their victory over Persik Kediri in the previous matchweek kept Macan Kemayoran anchored at the top of the table.
Despite this good form, Shin Tae-yong has refused to let his squad grow comfortable with their current achievements. The South Korean head coach instructed his side to set aside their recent win and immediately redirect full focus towards the upcoming away fixture.
"I constantly remind the players not to get carried away with celebration. They may enjoy this success for one or two days at most, after that they must reset and focus fully on preparing for our next match," Shin stated during Friday's pre-match press conference.
This warning is well founded. Dewa United are not an opponent to be underestimated, especially when playing in front of their home supporters. A win here would cut the gap between the hosts and league leaders Persija down to just one single point.
Conversely, Persija will extend their lead at the top to seven points if they can claim all three points on the road. For this reason, the result of this match will have major implications for the top of the table race.
Shin fully understands the high stakes of this fixture. He has stated that while he expects a hard-fought competitive match, his minimum target for the squad is to leave Serang with at least one point.
"This is an extremely important match, this is a direct clash between first and second place right now. Even as the away side, we must come away from this game with at least a point," he added.

Dewa United are determined not to let Persija pull further away at the top. Their heavy 0-4 away defeat to Arema FC last matchweek was a major blow for Osmar Loss' side, bringing an end to their six match unbeaten run.
Coach Loss confirmed his squad has extracted key lessons from their poor performance in Malang. He has demanded his players refocus immediately, and not allow the previous defeat to impact their preparation for Persija's visit.
At the same time, Dewa United can draw confidence from their strong home form this campaign. Two wins and one draw from three matches at Banten International Stadium proves they are a very difficult side to beat on their own ground.
From the Persija camp, midfielder Stjepan Loncar also acknowledged this will be a tough fixture. The Macan Kemayoran playmaker noted Dewa United carries significant home field advantage.
"We are expecting this to be a very difficult game, but we are ready for the challenge. We have prepared extremely thoroughly for this match, and the whole squad cannot wait to take to the pitch tomorrow," Loncar commented.
Persija will need to maintain disciplined balanced play to avoid giving the home side space to operate. With 17 goals scored in 7 matches, Persija's attacking line remains one of their greatest strengths.
That said, they will also need to withstand the expected pressure from Dewa United, who will be desperate for all three points to keep their title challenge alive.
There is far more than just three points on the line in this fixture. Persija will look to prove their consistency as league leaders, while Dewa United will aim to show their heavy defeat to Arema was not an accurate reflection of their true quality.
With just four points separating the two sides, this clash at Banten International Stadium will heat up the early season title race. Persija travel to defend their position at the summit, while Dewa United will look to use their home advantage to topple the league leaders.
