Indonesia's junior golfers delivered impressive performances at The 5th Menpora-PAGI International Junior Golf Championship 2026, held at Emeralda Golf Club, Depok, West Java, on 13–15 October 2026.

Multiple home athletes successfully claimed titles across various divisions at this international tournament. One of the most standout performances came from Eugene E. Tanyongjaya, who claimed the top boys' title as Best Gross Overall Boys.

Eugene completed three rounds with a total score of 207 strokes, recorded as 71, 67 and 69 strokes respectively. This result put him nine strokes under par.

This achievement further demonstrates the capability of Indonesia's Young Golfers when competing against participants from across the world.

"I entered this tournament with no expectations at all. All I focused on was just playing and giving my absolute best. Thank God, I was able to bring this trophy home," stated Eugene.

Eugene Tanyongjaya Maintained Consistent Performance Through The Final Round

Eugene stepped up his performance after the first round. In the second round, he carded 67 strokes to take over the top position on the leaderboard.

The young Indonesian golfer then held his consistency through the deciding final round, posting a score of 69 strokes. Over the final round, he recorded six birdies and three bogeys to secure his victory.

Across all three rounds, Eugene posted a total of 19 birdies and 10 bogeys. This record was a key factor in his success winning the main boys' category title.

Alongside solid technical skill, his focused approach during putting was also one of the supporting factors for his performance throughout the tournament.

"Before every putt, I would just focus on doing my best and avoid overthinking. I think that really helped my putting this week," he explained.

Following this win, Eugene plans to improve both his game technique and physical conditioning. He will also need to balance training commitments with his education, as he is scheduled for national team programmes including the Nomura Cup and Lion City Cup.

Supapit Pruksanubal Claims Overall Girls' Title

In the girls' category, the Best Gross Overall Girls title was won by Thai Golfer Supapit Pruksanubal. She completed the tournament with a total score of 218 strokes, two over par.

Supapit carded 73 strokes in both of the first two rounds, before closing out the competition with a 72 stroke score in the final round. This victory marks her first international title won outside of Thailand.

"I am so happy to win here. At first I did not think I would take the win, there were so many strong players competing. When it finally happened, I was absolutely overjoyed," said Supapit.

Accurate iron and wedge shots helped Supapit place the ball closer to the pin. Even when facing pressure during several putting opportunities, she managed to hold her performance steady until the end of the competition.

Supapit also noted that the layout of Emeralda Golf Club presented its own unique challenge for participants. Undulating, narrow fairways and sloped green surfaces demanded careful, precise shot strategy.

"I love the challenge of this course. The fairways are hilly and really tight, it's hard to keep the ball on the fairway. There are also lots of slopes on the greens," she added.

Indonesian Golfers Dominate Multiple Divisions

Aside from Eugene's win, Indonesian Athletes also secured strong results across multiple age groups.

In Boys Division A, Asyrafa Danish Suryanto finished with a score of six under par, totalling 210 strokes. He placed second, beaten on countback by Vietnamese golfer Nguyen Trong Hoang who recorded an identical total score.

Meanwhile, Boys Division B was entirely dominated by Indonesian athletes. Francesco J. Noah Hartono took first place with a total of 218 strokes, followed by Fadhlan Azzam Atmajah on 219 strokes and Jeremiah Alessandro on 220 strokes.

Strong results also came from Girls Division A. Abigail Rhea Soeryo Wiharko claimed first place with a total score of 222 strokes, six over par. She finished ahead of Singaporean representative Passion Hsu, who carded 229 strokes.

Indonesian golfers also secured multiple podium positions across other age groups. These results demonstrate the broad depth of young national athletes competing at this international multi-nation championship.

A Key Platform For National Junior Golfer Regeneration

The 5th Menpora-PAGI International Junior Golf Championship 2026 serves as a valuable opportunity for junior golfers to test their ability against international standard competition.

Held at Emeralda Golf Club, this tournament featured competing players from nations including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, South Korea, India, Australia and Russia.

Cross-border competitive experience provides crucial learning for young athletes to develop their technique, competitive mentality and consistent performance.

Eugene Tanyongjaya's victory and the success of Indonesian athletes across multiple divisions provide strong positive momentum for the development of junior golf nationally. Nevertheless, ongoing structured coaching, physical conditioning support and access to high quality tournament opportunities will remain required to enable these young golfers to progress to higher competitive levels.
