Asian Games 2026: Men's Doubles Leo/Daniel Contributes Indonesia's Third Gold Medal

Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin concluded their campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games with a Gold Medal. This Indonesian Men's Doubles pair defeated the Chinese pairing Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang in the final match held in Ichinomiya, Aichi, Japan.

For Leo/Daniel, this medal is far more than just the result of their on-court performance. They dedicated this achievement to their families, teammates, management officials, and all fans who continuously supported them throughout their entire journey to the top podium.

"This medal is dedicated to my family, my teammates, the management, and every party that supported our performance at the Asian Games. I hope this can also become motivation for others to keep fighting and stay driven," Daniel stated after the match.

This final victory also marked a major milestone for Leo/Daniel after they battled through the full series of matches at the 2026 Asian Games. They answered the immense pressure of the title decider with consistent performance, ultimately bringing home gold for Indonesia.

Leo later shared the personal moment behind this success. Right as the match ended, he performed sujud syukur (prostration of gratitude) as an outpouring of joy and thankfulness.

"I thought of my parents. I am also grateful for my wife who prayed constantly for me, as well as my older brother and all of my family. We reminded each other every single day to never miss our prayers, that is what felt most emotional for me," said Leo.

For Leo, family support was a critical pillar throughout the Asian Games competition. Prayers and messages from their loved ones accompanied their journey all the way until they stood on the highest podium step.

Leo/Daniel's gold carries great meaning for the Indonesian contingent. This became Indonesia's third gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games.

Previously, Indonesia had earned gold from the badminton men's team event and weightlifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah. Leo/Daniel's victory added another gold to the nation's tally while further solidifying badminton's contribution at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Overall, the Indonesian Badminton Team finished this Asian Games edition with five total medals. The haul consists of two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
