Matt Fitzpatrick Wins 4 Titles in 2026, Claims This Season Is the Best Golf Period of His Entire Career.

Matt Fitzpatrick is currently enjoying one of the most productive phases of his professional golf career. After closing out his 2026 winning run by lifting the FedEx Open de France title, the English golfer has described this season as the best period of his entire career.

Fitzpatrick secured the FedEx Open de France victory with a three-shot margin on Sunday. This trophy marks his fourth tournament win across global competitions in 2026, following three prior first-place finishes on the PGA Tour.

With this track record, Fitzpatrick views this season through a different perspective. Despite results at the major championships not yet meeting his expectations, he remains satisfied with the consistency he has shown across all competitions.

"This is without doubt the best stretch of golf I have ever produced. 2022 was also one of my strongest years, but right now I already had three wins and now this makes four. The sustained consistency I have maintained is the biggest achievement here," Fitzpatrick told the Sky Sports Golf podcast.

The 32-year-old did fail to finish inside the top 14 across all four major tournaments during the 2026 season. However, six top-10 finishes at international tour events combined with four championship titles stand as clear proof of his reliable form.

Fitzpatrick does not hide his disappointment over his major championship performances. For him, these four events hold special status on the golf calendar, and are the core target for every player at the start of each season.

"Of course that underwhelming major campaign is a letdown. Every golfer sets out at the start of the year aiming to contend at the majors. Those are the tournaments that carry the greatest meaning and importance."

He maintains that his failure to challenge at the top of major leaderboards should not overshadow his overall achievements this season.

"I'm frustrated I couldn't make it happen this year. I felt like I was only a couple of good rounds away from peak form in three out of the four majors, then I just played poorly and made bad strategic calls at the final one."

"At the same time, this does not diminish everything I have accomplished across the full season. I have been in regular contention at so many golf tournaments - that is exactly what you hope for over the course of an entire season."

Topping The Ryder Cup Qualification Standings

His victory in France also propelled Fitzpatrick to first place in the Ryder Cup qualification rankings. He also broke into the top 10 of the DP World Tour Race to Dubai.

Fitzpatrick now has a clear opportunity to achieve the highest official world ranking of his career. A strong performance at the upcoming Scottish event could lift him as high as 2nd in the global rankings.

Even so, Fitzpatrick has not stopped assessing his game. As the season nears its end, he and his support team have already begun identifying areas of his play to refine during the upcoming competition break.

"We have reviewed every part of my game. We are approaching the end of the year now, so we are starting to finalise decisions on what we will work on and our plan for the off-season break."

The next focus will be executing this improvement plan in a structured, consistent manner.

"We have already settled on the specific items we want to address. Now it is just about Putting this work into practice, and building out the full training programme properly."

Returning To The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Following his Open de France win, Fitzpatrick is now preparing for his next challenge at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

This tournament holds special personal meaning for Fitzpatrick. In 2023, he won the event's pro-am team competition playing alongside his mother, Sue.

This year, Fitzpatrick will instead partner his father, Russell. The English golfer even made a lighthearted joke about his father's official handicap.

"I reckon he's probably going to get given a few extra strokes. He'd be the first one to say that himself!" Fitzpatrick remarked.

Fitzpatrick already has prior experience competing in family teams. Back in April, he won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans playing alongside his younger brother, Alex Fitzpatrick.

Now he is aiming to carry that success over to the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship with Russell.

"We are going to need a few really solid rounds to put ourselves in contention. Hopefully Johan [Rupert, tournament organiser] doesn't go and cut his handicap too much after this week!"

While he still intends to compete properly, Fitzpatrick confirmed he will not place unnecessary pressure on either himself or his father for this event.

"He actually plays pretty well, so you never know how it will go. When the pressure hits things can feel different, but we are just here to have fun and enjoy the tournament."

This year's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship has drawn a star-studded field. Alex Fitzpatrick will this time partner their mother Sue, while defending Champion Robert MacIntyre returns to defend his title.

Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Justin Rose are also all on the entry list. In addition, former major champions Brooks Koepka and Cam Smith are competing at the event, which is hosted across Carnoustie, Kingsbarns Golf Links and the Old Course at St Andrews.

For Fitzpatrick, this tournament represents the next chance to continue the momentum of his career-best season, while also enjoying competitive golf alongside his family.
