Lombok has begun taking on a distinct atmosphere ahead of the 2026 MotoGP Mandalika event. It is not only riders and crew members arriving in the area; a surge of tourist arrivals is already being felt across popular destinations in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
MotoGP riders and their support crews are scheduled to begin arriving in Lombok on Monday, 5 October 2026, following the conclusion of the Motegi Grand Prix round in Japan. Their arrival marks the official countdown to the Mandalika MotoGP race weekend.
Ahmad Nur Aulia, Head of the West Nusa Tenggara Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, confirmed that multiple charter flights have been arranged to transport riders and event crew to Lombok's Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM).

Sports Tourism in Mandalika Has Become a New Attraction Apart from MotoGP
"We have planned three charter flights to bring all riders and crew into BIZAM. The official riders parade will be held on 7 October," stated Aulia on Monday, 5 October 2026.
The MotoGP delegation will not arrive all at once. Additional riders and crew members are scheduled to land in Lombok through 6 and 7 October.
Even before the race weekend officially begins, the impact of this global motorsport event on the local tourism sector is already visible. Hotel occupancy rates across the Mandalika precinct are reported to be at full capacity.
Senggigi is also seeing strong accommodation demand, while Mataram City has emerged as an alternative lodging option for visitors seeking accommodation outside the Mandalika zone.
Star-rated hotels in Mataram have already reached approximately 90% occupancy. Beyond formal star-rated properties, budget guesthouses and local economy hotels are also recording rising booking volumes.
"For star-class hotels in Mataram, occupancy is already sitting at 90%. We are also seeing growing booking numbers for non-star rated and budget guesthouses," he added.
This trend confirms that the economic impact of MotoGP Mandalika is not limited to the immediate circuit surroundings. Visitors travelling for the race are highly likely to extend their trips to explore other destinations across Lombok.
For travellers, both Mataram and Senggigi present attractive lodging options that allow visitors to combine their MotoGP experience with a longer exploration trip around West Nusa Tenggara.
Spectator Shuttle Transport Arranged From Multiple Pickup Points
With increased visitor movement across the island, transport logistics have been identified as a key priority. The West Nusa Tenggara provincial government has established dedicated spectator pickup points for travel to the Mandalika precinct.
Proposed pickup locations in Mataram include the former Selaparang Airport site and the Islamic Center complex. Additional shuttle stops will be operated in Lembar, Senggigi and Bangsal.
A total of 42 shuttle bus fleets will be deployed to support spectator mobility throughout the entire MotoGP Mandalika event period.
For first-time visitors travelling to Lombok for the race, these official shuttle services are an important consideration, particularly for guests choosing accommodation outside the Mandalika area.
125 Supporting Events Set To Activate Lombok Throughout Race Week
The 2026 MotoGP Mandalika will offer far more than just on-track racing action.
The NTB provincial government has curated 125 supporting events blending local cultural performances and entertainment programming. This initiative is designed to showcase West Nusa Tenggara's Cultural Heritage to both domestic and international visitors.
A new initiative for this year's event will see international schools based in the Mandalika precinct participate in cultural programming. This scheme aims to introduce local traditions to students from diverse international backgrounds.
As a result, visitor arrivals during the MotoGP period will not be focused solely on circuit activities, but will also offer opportunities to experience authentic cultural experiences and local attractions.
International recording artist Agnez Mo is also scheduled to perform as part of the official entertainment lineup. Her appearance will provide an off-track activity option for spectators following each day's on-track racing action.
Travellers Advised To Beware Of Counterfeit MotoGP Tickets
Amidst high public enthusiasm for the 2026 MotoGP Mandalika, visitors are being urged to exercise caution when purchasing event tickets.
Ahmad Nur Aulia warned the public against purchasing tickets advertised through unauthorised channels, particularly on social media platforms. This advisory follows confirmed reports of expired old event tickets being resold.
"We strongly advise all spectators to only obtain tickets through official authorised sales channels. Official tickets are still available," he emphasised.
Official ticket redemption counters opened at BIZAM Airport on 5 October 2026.
For travellers planning to attend MotoGP Mandalika, verifying that tickets are purchased from official sources is a critical pre-travel step. This will not only prevent fraud, but also ensure a smooth and hassle-free visit to Lombok.
With Mandalika hotels already at full capacity, Mataram Hotel Occupancy approaching 90%, and a full calendar of cultural and entertainment activities prepared, the 2026 MotoGP Mandalika is set to be far more than just a motor racing weekend.
For visitors, this presents a perfect opportunity to combine the high-adrenaline excitement of MotoGP with exploration of Lombok — from the Mandalika precinct to surrounding tourism destinations across the island.
