The rivalry between Manchester United and Arsenal has never truly faded, even long after their star players retired from professional Football. Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand confirmed that the United Legends squad did not travel to Jakarta solely for nostalgia - they are here to claim victory over the North London Legends.
Both sides will face off in the fixture titled Champions Impact In Jakarta: The Rivalry Returns, hosted at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta on Saturday 10 October at 19:00 WIB.
For Ferdinand, while reuniting with former teammates and old rivals carries special appeal, the Match Result remains the priority.

"That's right. And we win," Ferdinand stated during a press conference at SUGBK on Friday.
The Will To Win Still Burns Strong
Ferdinand was a core pillar of Manchester United's golden era. During his time with the Red Devils, he lifted six English Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League trophy.
His history of hard-fought battles against Arsenal gives this exhibition match unique weight, as the two clubs were once each other's greatest title rivals at the peak of English top flight football.
Even so, Ferdinand is fully aware none of the players are in the physical condition they were two decades prior. Age means they can no longer operate with the pace and intensity they maintained during their active professional careers.
"It will obviously be different. We are all older now, we cannot move like we used to. Our minds might still run at full speed, but the body just cannot keep up any more!" Ferdinand remarked.
Despite these physical limitations, none of the former players have set aside their desire to claim victory. Ferdinand is certain the competitive instinct forged from the historic club rivalry remains deeply ingrained in every player taking part.
"But like I said - not a single player here, not one of our teammates, will step onto that pitch without the drive to win," he added.
Ferdinand Expects An Entertaining Clash At SUGBK
The Manchester United vs Arsenal rivalry of the 2000s became legendary for brutal intensity, physical duels, and title deciders that went down to the final seconds. Meetings between the two sides were almost always season-defining, carrying huge meaning for both players and supporters.
Ferdinand predicts this match will still feature its fair share of competitive clashes, though he does not expect tension to reach the ferocious levels seen during their official league meetings.
"I am certain there will be moments where you see proper committed challenges between the players. That said, you will not see the same all-out chaos that played out 20 years ago," Ferdinand explained.
He also acknowledged Manchester United supporters will still demand full commitment from their side, joking that it is simply impossible to ask Red Devils fans to take things lightly.
"At the end of the day, how am I supposed to tell Manchester United fans to relax? That was never going to happen," he laughed.
Ryan Giggs Cannot Wait To Relive The Rivalry
This excitement is shared by fellow United legend Ryan Giggs. The Welsh former winger admitted he is eagerly anticipating stepping back into that familiar competitive atmosphere against his old on-pitch adversaries.
For Giggs, this Jakarta fixture is a special occasion that brings together some of the finest players from the most iconic era of English Football rivalry.
"I am really looking forward to this. We had such an incredible rivalry over all those years. So many great players shared the pitch back then, and tomorrow we will have all those legends out there once again," Giggs said.
Giggs hopes the match will be an entertaining spectacle that creates lasting memories for supporters in attendance at SUGBK. He noted the chance to share the pitch once more with this generation of players is what makes this fixture so special.
"I just want us all to put on a good show. I hope everyone there gets to enjoy watching these great players live. I cannot wait for this," he concluded.
