Liverpool face a challenge in their first away fixture of this season's Champions League. The Reds travel to Austria to take on LASK without Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai, who are all still sidelined with injuries.

All three players were also absent when Liverpool suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League. None of them were included in the travelling squad that flew to Linz for the clash against the Austrian side.

The unavailability of Isak, Gakpo and Szoboszlai presents a distinct issue for Liverpool ahead of this European match. All three are key options for the manager when selecting his lineup, especially as the club looks to respond following their disappointing domestic result.

Isak and Gakpo provide attacking options, while Szoboszlai operates as the link between the midfield and forward line. Without this trio, Liverpool will have to rely on other players to maintain their attacking threat while also improving the team's overall performance.

Van Dijk Remains Named In Liverpool Squad

Amid the news of the three key absentees, Liverpool received more positive updates regarding the condition of Virgil van Dijk. The centre-back had reported discomfort after taking a knock to his calf during the match against Manchester City.

However, Van Dijk has still been named in the 23-man squad Liverpool have taken to Austria. His inclusion is a boost for The Reds' defensive line, though his full fitness will continue to be monitored ahead of kickoff.

Liverpool have also called up three youth team players: Jayden Danns, Wellity Lucky and Josh Sonni-Lambie, into the squad for the LASK fixture.

All three have been given the opportunity to join the first team amid the current shortage of available senior players. Bringing in these academy prospects is one measure Liverpool have taken to complete their travelling squad for the trip to Austria.

Wataru Endo and Federico Chiesa, who both returned to the matchday squad for last Weekend's domestic fixture after recovering from injury, are ineligible for this Champions League tie as they were not registered for the competition.

This situation has left Liverpool with even more limited player options. Manager Andoni Iraola will be forced to get the most out of the players available to him, while also finding a way for his side to bounce back from the defeat to Manchester City.

The match against LASK presents Liverpool with a chance to move on from their poor Premier League form. Despite travelling without three of their core players, The Reds are still expected to put in a competitive performance for their opening away Champions League fixture of the campaign.
