Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has questioned the ruling from Spanish Football authorities which handed him a four-match playing ban, after he received a red card against Villarreal in LaLiga. The Brazilian player admitted he was shocked by the severity of the punishment imposed on him.
Vinicius revealed he received notification of the sanction while Real Madrid was preparing to face AS Roma. He does not understand the reasoning behind the ban, especially as he only found out about the decision right before the match was due to kick off.
"This came at completely the wrong time. They had the entire day to announce this punishment, and the moment I arrived at the stadium for the AS Roma game, I got the message that I would be suspended for four LaLiga matches. I don't understand why," stated Vinicius, as quoted by Diario AS.

This sanction is a heavy blow for Real Madrid, as Vinicius will definitely miss four domestic fixtures. One of the critical matches the 26-year-old forward is set to miss is the El Clasico derby against Barcelona on 25 October.
Vinicius' red card incident occurred during Real Madrid's 1-0 win over Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu last weekend. The winger was dismissed by the referee after pulling Nathan Saliba's hair.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) subsequently handed the Brazilian international the four-match suspension.
The ban is split as follows: two matches for violent conduct outside of an active ball challenge, plus an additional two matches for aggressive behaviour while protesting the referee's decision.
Vinicius has raised concerns over how the rules are being applied to calculate such punishments.
According to the player, clubs and footballers should receive clear explanations for updated regulations, so that everyone understands exactly which actions can result in specific sanctions.
"The reality is these are new rules. They have never explained these to us. Officials from LaLiga, or whoever the referee governing body is, always come to brief us on new regulations. But for this exact ruling? Nobody told us anything about this at all," he said.
Vinicius Denies Intent For Violent Action
Amid his objections, Vinicius acknowledged he ultimately had to accept the red card issued during the Villarreal match. However, he stressed that he never intended to harm the opposition player, and noted he is frequently the target of fouls on the pitch.
"At the end of the day it was a red card against me. It's that easy... because opposing fans will say it was the correct call. But I have never acted violently towards another player. I always keep my composure. I get kicked constantly, and yet I always end up being the one shown cards," Vinicius commented.
For Real Madrid, Vinicius' absence risks disrupting the side's tactical plans during a congested match schedule. Losing one of their star attackers, particularly for a high-stakes fixture like El Clasico, presents a major challenge for Jose Mourinho's squad.
All attention now turns to how Real Madrid will navigate their domestic league fixtures without Vinicius for the full duration of his suspension.
Meanwhile, the debate over this sanction has underlined the critical need for transparent regulations and consistent disciplinary enforcement within Spanish football.
