Saudi International 2026, the season closing tournament for the Asian Tour, has been officially postponed. This prestigious Golf Event was originally scheduled to be held 18-21 November in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, however as of Friday 16 October no announcement for a replacement date has been released.
The decision to postpone was agreed by Golf Saudi and the Asian Tour on Thursday 15 October. Both parties cited organisational and logistical challenges as the primary consideration, while organisers have not yet confirmed when the tournament can be rescheduled.
"The Asian Tour will maintain direct communication with all players and members regarding the schedule and next steps," stated the joint official release from Golf Saudi and the Asian Tour, which noted the tournament was delayed due to "logistical challenges".

Postponement Amid Regional Security Challenges
The Saudi International postponement occurs against a backdrop of worsening security issues within Saudi Arabia.
Missile and drone attacks targeting multiple facilities across Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh International Airport, have deteriorated conditions ahead of planned international events.
While official organisers have publicly emphasised operational and logistical difficulties, regional security conditions are a critical underlying factor driving uncertainty for sporting events in the country. No revised date has been set for the Saudi International, leaving Asian Tour players and members awaiting further schedule confirmation.
This tournament carries a total prize purse of 5 million US Dollars, and was planned to be hosted at Riyadh Golf Club. Backed by Saudi Arabia's state sovereign Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Saudi International is designated as one of the flagship events on the Asian Tour calendar.
Asian Tour CEO Cho Minn Thant reaffirmed the importance of the tournament for competitive golf across the Asian region.
"We are grateful to Golf Saudi for their continued valuable support and partnership. The PIF Saudi International is one of the cornerstone tournaments on the Asian Tour calendar, and we look forward to welcoming players back to compete in Riyadh at a future date," Cho stated in the official Asian Tour announcement.
This Is Not The First Disrupted Major Tournament
The Saudi International postponement joins a growing list of sporting events impacted by the security situation. One day prior, the exhibition Six Kings Slam Tennis Tournament was also rescheduled from October to December.
These developments have created widespread uncertainty for athletes, event organisers and fans who had already made arrangements to attend sporting events in Saudi Arabia.
Schedule adjustments will impact Travel planning, player preparation regimes and the full structure of the end-of-season competition calendar.
The Saudi International holds established history on the international golf circuit. The event operated as part of the European Tour from 2019 to 2021, before transitioning to the Asian Tour under PIF backing.
As the official season closing tournament, this schedule change carries significant potential impacts to the overall competition calendar structure and player preparation cycles.
The Asian Tour confirmed that further announcements regarding the remainder of the 2026 season and full 2027 schedule will be published in due course. (arabnews.com)
