Manchester United have another PFA Player of the Year, as Bruno Fernandes wins the award for the 2025/2026 season.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has secured another individual accolade. He was named PFA Player of the Year for the 2025/2026 season at the PFA Awards ceremony held at the Manchester Opera House, Manchester.

This award is decided through votes from professional players registered under the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA). Bruno received the highest number of votes, finishing ahead of multiple elite Premier League players.

On the final shortlist, Bruno beat Rayan Cherki, Erling Haaland, Gabriel Magalhaes, David Raya, and Declan Rice to claim the award.

This victory reinforces Bruno's status as one of the most influential players in English football last season.

Second Portuguese Player After Cristiano Ronaldo

Bruno's achievement carries historic weight. He becomes only the second Portuguese player ever to win the PFA Player of the Year award.

Prior to this, Cristiano Ronaldo won this honour during his time at Manchester United, claiming the title in both the 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons.

Bruno is also the first Manchester United player to receive this award since Wayne Rooney, who last took home the prize in the 2009/2010 campaign.

Completes His Individual Awards Collection

The 31-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2025/2026 season. This PFA Player of the Year title adds to the list of individual honours he already secured this campaign.

Bruno had previously won the 2025/2026 Premier League Player of the Season award. He was also named Football Writers' Association (FWA) Player of the Year, voted by English football journalists. This PFA honour caps off an exceptional season for the midfielder.

Across the 2025/2026 season, Bruno appeared in 35 Premier League matches, recording 9 goals and 21 assists.

This assist tally highlights Bruno's central role in creating chances and orchestrating Manchester United's gameplay throughout the campaign.

Defeated Six Top-Tier Candidates

To claim this season's PFA award, Bruno competed against six other leading players from the English top flight.

Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland represented Manchester City on the shortlist, while Arsenal had three nominated players: Gabriel Magalhaes, David Raya, and Declan Rice.

Bruno was the sole Manchester United player nominated, and went on to be crowned the winner.

This award holds special prestige as winners are voted exclusively by fellow professional players. This means Bruno's performances earned direct recognition from the opponents he competed against week in, week out across the Premier League season.

Alongside taking the main individual award, Bruno was also selected for the 2025/2026 PFA Team of the Year.

He was named in the lineup alongside David Raya, Gabriel Magalhaes, Nico O'Reilly, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, Rayan Cherki, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, and Igor Thiago.
