Amri/Nita Avenged Their World Championship Defeat by Qualifying for the Asian Games Final.

Indonesian Mixed Doubles pair Amri Syahnawi / Nita Violina Marwah successfully avenged their previous defeat against Feng Yan Zhe / Huang Dongping. They claimed this victory at the Badminton semi-final round of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games on Monday.

Amri and Nita performed solidly to knock out the Chinese pair in straight two games with scores 21-12, 21-14. This result also secures their spot in the final match of Asian Games 2026.

This encounter was Amri and Nita's chance to redeem their result at the 2026 BWF World Championships. One month prior, both pairs had also met in the semi-final stage of that tournament.

Back then however, Amri / Nita were forced to admit Feng / Huang's superiority after a tight three-game battle. They lost 22-20, 14-21, 20-22 and only came home with the bronze medal.

The experience from that defeat instead became evaluation material for Amri and Nita. They took lessons from the previous match and used it as preparation for this rematch.

"The World Championships became a very valuable lesson for me. From that moment we knew we still had the ability to fight. For all our flaws, as long as we are willing to learn, we can actually pull this off. We can get through any situation," stated Amri when interviewed after the match in Ichinomiya, Japan on Monday.

Unlike their clash at the World Championships, this time Amri / Nita managed to control the game from the very first point. They gave Feng / Huang no room to develop their play pattern, before closing out the straight games victory.

Apart from the post-defeat evaluation, Amri and Nita's success also cannot be separated from the preparation they carried out alongside Nova Widianto.

This coach, well known as a mixed doubles specialist, officially rejoined the All Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) National Training Camp shortly after Amri / Nita competed at the 2026 BWF World Championships.

Ever since, Nova has been directly involved in Amri and Nita's Asian Games preparation. This approach delivered positive impacts for the pair, including building their self-confidence and competitive mental readiness.

Amri also expressed appreciation for Nova's role, who oversaw every single aspect of their preparation cycle for the 2026 Asian Games.

"Alhamdulillah, we were fully handled by Coach Nova for this Asian Games preparation. This helped us so much, he provided complete training programs, daily motivation, even guided our mentality and kept us aligned with our targets," Amri explained.

This victory over Feng / Huang brings Amri and Nita one step closer to their Asian Games 2026 target. After progressing from the semi-finals in convincing fashion, the Indonesian pair only has one final match left to compete for the Gold Medal.
