Germany National Team once again failed to secure a victory in the UEFA Nations League after playing out a goalless Draw against Greece on Matchday 4 of Group A2, held at Toumba Stadium, Thessaloniki on Monday, 5 October 2026.

This result means Jurgen Klopp's tenure as head coach of Die Mannschaft is still far from Running smoothly. From the four matches Germany have played under Klopp so far, the manager has only been able to guide the side to a single win.

The single point gained has also left Germany in an increasingly uncomfortable position. Die Mannschaft currently sit in 3rd place in Group A2 with 5 points, while Greece remain in 2nd position on 8 points.

This situation has made Germany's path to qualify for the Nations League Finals significantly harder. In fact, Die Mannschaft are now at risk of missing out on the final tournament for the fourth time in the last five editions of the competition.

Greece applied pressure right from the opening minute. Just 60 seconds into the match, Georgios Masouras created a goalscoring chance with a headed effort following a cross from Kostas Tsimikas.

However, Jonas Urbig read the trajectory of the ball perfectly and pulled off a save to keep Germany's goal intact.

After this early scare, Germany gradually began to take control of possession. Florian Wirtz, Derry Scherhant and Tom Bischof repeatedly attempted to break down the Greece defence marshalled by Konstantinos Tzolakis.

Germany thought they had taken the lead in the 32nd minute when Jonathan Burkardt found the back of the home side's net. This goal was ultimately disallowed however, after a VAR review confirmed Bischof had committed a handball in the build-up to the attack.

The 0-0 scoreline remained unchanged going into the half time break.

As the second half got underway, Germany looked to raise the intensity of their attacking play. Lennart Karl went close with a curling strike, but Tzolakis was well positioned to make the stop.

Greece did not sit back purely to defend. The home side launched several dangerous counter attacks, with Konstantinos Mavropanos going close with a header that Urbig reacted quickly to parry away and keep Germany's goal safe.

The pace of the match then picked up. Challenges became increasingly physical, with a number of fouls causing repeated stoppages in play.

Masouras got another golden opportunity to put Greece ahead, but this time his header sailed just over the crossbar.

With the final 15 minutes of the match approaching, Germany pushed forward with greater pressure in search of a winning goal. None of Die Mannschaft's constructed attacking moves however produced an effective final finish.

When the referee blew the full time whistle, both sides were forced to settle for a share of the points as the 0-0 deadlock was never broken.

This result means Germany will have to produce a much improved performance in their remaining fixtures if they are to preserve their qualification chances for the Nations League Finals. Meanwhile, Greece hold onto 2nd place in Group A2 with their total of 8 points.
