Amri/Nita Secure Silver Medal at the 2026 Asian Games, Defeated by the Chinese Pair in the Final Match

Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah had to settle for the silver Medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after their campaign was stopped at the final match. This Indonesian Mixed Doubles pair was defeated by Chinese duo Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Yaxin in the fixture held in Ichinomiya, Aichi, Japan on Tuesday.

Amri and Nita actually began the match with strong form. They put up a tight, competitive fight in the opening game before eventually falling by a narrow 19-21 margin.

The dynamic shifted completely in the second game. Jiang and Wei grew significantly more confident, raised their match pace, and left Amri/Nita with no gaps to escape the mounting pressure.

"From the very start of the second set their confidence was incredible, same with their speed. Every shot they hit, every movement they made converted into points. We got completely pinned down, there was no way for us to break out of the pressure," stated Amri following the match in Ichinomiya, Aichi, Japan on Tuesday.

The contest ran for 43 minutes total, ending with a straight games victory for the Chinese pair by scores of 21-19, 21-8.

Earlier in the first game, Amri/Nita had held a favourable position. Their play looked consistent and solid, and they even retained their lead right into the closing stages of the set.

This advantage did not hold. After the mid-game interval, Jiang and Wei seized full control of the match. Relentless mounting pressure closed off every opportunity for the Indonesian pair to secure the opening game.

"We were leading at the end of that first game, that was our golden chance. Unfortunately we failed to capitalise on that momentum during the critical deciding points. They just kept applying non-stop pressure and we could not find a way out," Amri explained.

This defeat has become a key learning point for the pair. They stated that reaching the 2026 Asian Games final still provided them with irreplaceable experience, while also clearly highlighting specific parts of their game that still require improvement.

Technical execution and competitive mental resilience are the two main focus areas they will evaluate from this match against the Chinese pair, especially performance during high-pressure critical phases of play.

Amri and Nita's silver medal adds to Indonesia's Badminton medal collection at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. This result confirms that their run all the way to the tournament final delivered a valuable contribution for the Indonesian national contingent.

Indonesia still retains opportunities to claim additional badminton gold medals. Men's Doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin are scheduled to compete in the fourth match fixture against Chinese duo Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang.
