Marc Marquez arrives at MotoGP Indonesia carrying strong confidence. Fresh off his victory at the Japanese Grand Prix, the Ducati Lenovo rider is even more assured heading into the upcoming challenge at Mandalika Circuit, Lombok this Sunday.

Mandalika is not a forgiving track for Marquez. Since this circuit joined the MotoGP calendar in 2022, the number 93 rider has never once finished the main Indonesian Grand Prix race.

This time, Marquez arrives under very different circumstances. His Ducati Desmosedici is currently on an upward performance trend. The victory at Motegi stands as the latest proof, after he dominated both the Sprint Race and full main Grand Prix in Japan.

"Right now we will have to observe how my bike performs in Indonesia. But overall, ever since the Aragón race weekend, I have felt extremely comfortable with the handling and condition of my motorcycle," stated Marc Marquez, as quoted from the official Ducati Lenovo team page.

Marquez's confidence is directly built on his results in Japan. The defending Champion secured a total haul of 37 points by winning both the Sprint Race and main Grand Prix, pulling clear of Aprilia Racing duo Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi in the process.

For Marquez, consistent points collection remains the primary target after coming through this demanding race weekend.

"I am truly happy with these 37 points we earned this weekend, because that was always our core objective. This was a very tough race, especially the opening laps when I was running right behind Jorge (Martín)," Marquez commented on his Japanese Grand Prix performance.

The Japan result has solidified Marquez's position in the 2026 MotoGP title battle. He currently sits second in the provisional Standings with 331 points, only two points adrift of championship leader Jorge Martin.

This narrow points margin means every remaining race now carries critical stakes. Mandalika presents Marquez with the chance to put pressure back onto Martin, while also wiping his poor historical record at the Indonesian circuit.

Since MotoGP first held an event at Mandalika, Marquez has never crossed the chequered flag in a main Grand Prix race there. This round he will face not just competition from Martin and Bezzecchi, but also the challenge of keeping his motorcycle competitive through to the end of the full race distance.

Marquez has genuine cause for optimism. Ever since he unlocked his peak race pace at the Aragón round, his Ducati has consistently delivered the performance required to fight at the front of the field.

One notable milestone came from Marquez's victory in Japan: he is now officially the rider with the most all-time wins at Misano Circuit, holding a total of four victories at the track.

All focus now turns fully to Mandalika. With the championship battle growing ever tighter, this small points gap means every single race result will directly shape the outcome of the title fight.

MotoGP Indonesia shapes up as a defining test for Marquez. He arrives with proven race pace, high confidence and strong momentum, but he will have to deliver it all on a circuit that has never yet seen him finish a full main Grand Prix race.
