Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri are Indonesia's final remaining hope at the Denmark Open 2026. The 3rd seeded Men's Doubles pair advanced to the semi-finals after overcoming Thailand's Peeratchai Sukphun / Pakkapon Teeraratsakul 21-17, 21-16 at the SJF Arena, Odense, Denmark.
This straight-games victory clears Fajar/Fikri's path to a far tougher test in the penultimate round. They will face 2nd seeded Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng / Wang Chang, with a spot in the final of this BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament at stake.
Fajar and Fikri carry positive momentum heading into this clash. Across eight prior head-to-head meetings, the Indonesian duo hold the advantage with 5 wins, while Liang/Wang have claimed 3 victories.

This head-to-head record does not guarantee an easy path however. Liang/Wang also demonstrated their resilience to reach the semi-finals, coming through a gruelling three-game battle against Malaysian pair Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin.
Fajar/Fikri Admit Quarter Final Match Was Not Straightforward
Fajar and Fikri were forced to work hard to overcome the Thai side. Alongside handling their opponents' gameplay, the pair also had to adjust their tactics for on-court shuttle conditions, which moved noticeably faster than in their earlier tournament matches.
Fajar acknowledged unforced errors disrupted their rhythm at stages, most notably when his shots landed well outside the court boundaries.
"That match was not easy against the Thai pair, they played extremely well on top of the shuttle being very fast today. I made unforced errors in both the first and second game, hitting shots far too long that went out," Fajar stated in an official PBSI press release on Friday.
He added that the increased shuttle speed required the pair to completely adjust their match pattern compared to their previous fixture.
"Naturally our entire playing rhythm was different to yesterday. The shuttle was already fast the day before, but today it was noticeably quicker," he explained.
Fikri highlighted the clear contrast in playing conditions compared to the pair's last meeting with the Thai duo at the Asian Games 2026. According to him, the faster shuttle in Odense completely altered the match dynamic.
"In Nagoya the shuttle was heavy and slow, but here it is very fast. There were almost no long rallies today, most points ended after one or two hits. This caught the Thai pair off guard, they were under constant pressure," Fikri said.
This successful adaptation was the foundation of Fajar and Fikri's win. They maintained their lead across both games to lock in their Denmark Open 2026 semi-final spot.
Liang/Wang Stand As The Next Test
In the semi-finals, Fajar/Fikri will face fellow top ranked Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng / Wang Chang. Liang/Wang booked their place in the final four after fighting back from a game down to beat Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin 18-21, 21-18, 21-15 in a tight contest.
Fajar and Fikri's head-to-head advantage is a valuable asset for the Indonesian side, though on-day performance in the semi-final will be the ultimate deciding factor.
Fajar and Fikri carry full national expectation as Indonesia's only surviving representatives at the Denmark Open 2026 semi-finals, after all other Indonesian entrants were knocked out in earlier rounds.
Their victory over the Thai pair keeps Indonesia's title hopes alive in Odense.
Semi-final fixtures are scheduled to commence on Saturday 17 October at 14:00 WIB. The exact start time for Fajar and Fikri's match is yet to be confirmed, as it will take place following the conclusion of the three preceding matches on the day.
Should they overcome Liang/Wang, Fajar and Fikri will qualify for the tournament final on Sunday 18 October 2026.
With 5 wins from 8 prior meetings, the Indonesian pair have valid grounds for confidence - but they will still need to deliver that performance once they step onto the court.
