Fajar/Fikri Wins Denmark Open 2026, Targets Higher Achievements

Ganda Putra Indonesia pair Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri are determined to use their 2026 Denmark Open victory as a stepping stone to reach even greater achievements. This title is expected to boost both their motivation and self-confidence heading into upcoming tournaments.

"We hope this will be the start of even better achievements for us going forward, that our motivation and confidence will keep growing. Our defeat at the previous Asian Games has pushed both of us to give our absolute best once again," Fajar stated in an official PBSI press release following their Denmark Open triumph in Odense, Denmark on Sunday, 18 October 2026.

Fajar and Fikri secured the championship title after delivering a dominant performance against Malaysian pair Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik in the final match at SJF Arena. They claimed a straight-game victory with scores of 21-8 and 21-11, wrapping up the contest in just 31 minutes.

This result marks a major milestone for the pair, especially after they fell short of the title in the previous edition of the Denmark Open final. On this occasion, the Indonesian duo closed out the match with a convincing win.

Fajar hopes this success at an elite international tournament will be the first step towards collecting many more titles. He also expressed his wish that Indonesian Badminton will continue to deliver positive results across all age groups.

"Indonesian Badminton has been performing quite well over the past few months. We hope we can keep achieving, keep growing and win more titles, not just at senior level but also in the junior ranks," Fajar added.

Meanwhile, Fikri stated that consistency and mindset are critical aspects that must be maintained after winning a championship. He refused to become complacent following their Denmark Open success, and both players will continue working to improve the quality of their game.

"I will always enter every single match with a fresh mindset, as if it is a brand new start, back to zero. That is why we must never become satisfied too quickly," said Fikri.

Fikri also noted that his game has developed significantly since partnering with Fajar. Experience competing under high-pressure match conditions has helped him mature as a player, particularly when it comes to maintaining focus against tough opponents.

"I try not to overthink things too much. All that matters is Putting in the work, giving my full effort, and praying for the best," Fikri remarked.

According to Fikri, their defeat in last year's Denmark Open final, alongside the disappointing results at the Asian Games, have become valuable learning experiences. He hopes these lessons will help them prepare better for every future challenge that lies ahead.

Fajar and Fikri's path to the 2026 Denmark Open top podium included several hard-fought matches. In the semi-final round on Saturday 17 October 2026, they were pushed all the way before overcoming Chinese pair Liang Wei Keng / Wang Chang in a three-game battle, ending with scores of 21-16, 16-21, 21-16.

One day earlier, the Indonesian pair had booked their semi-final spot by defeating Thailand's Peeratchai Sukphun / Pakkapon Teeraratsakul 21-17, 21-16 in the Quarter Final round on Friday 16 October.

When facing Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the title decider, Fajar and Fikri immediately took control of the attack from the very first game. Their aggressive playstyle and consistent pressure left the Malaysian pair unable to execute their game plan, paving the way for the Indonesian representatives to seal the straight-game victory.

The 2026 Denmark Open title now serves as valuable capital for Fajar and Fikri as they look to maintain this positive momentum. Both players are expected to sustain their performance levels, improve their consistency, and continue competing for championship titles at upcoming tournaments.
