Tangerang - The future of Golf Tourism is not defined solely by the quality of golf courses, but also by the experiences offered outside of actual gameplay. Combining sport, natural environments, and recreational amenities has emerged as a core strategy to expand the appeal of golf destinations.

This framework was presented at the 2026 Indonesia Golf Festival (IGF), held 23–25 October at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang Regency, Banten. This festival acts as an industry milestone for the Golf Industry to showcase approaches for developing golf as an integrated pillar of tourism.

One company advancing this model is PT Intra Golflink Resorts Tbk (IDX: GOLF). Through its New Kuta Golf estate in Pecatu, Bali, the company has expanded the purpose of its golf precinct by adding premium residential accommodation, commercial facilities, and nature-based recreation offerings.

At IGF 2026, GOLF launched its Golf Tourism concept that integrates luxury living, wellness, nature stewardship and sustainability. A highlighted initiative was the new kuta golf agrotourism program, including fresh harvested melons and tomatoes grown directly on the estate grounds.

Showcasing this farm produce demonstrates how off-course activities can be embedded into golf destination development. Crop cultivation, nature recreation and environmental education programs are designed to complement the full visitor experience.

Agrotourism Extends The Golf Experience

Development of the New Kuta Golf agrotourism program began with construction of greenhouses fitted with automated temperature, humidity and irrigation control systems. This technology enables consistent crop cultivation within a regulated growing environment.

Going forward, the company will expand this facility across 1.3 hectares, with plans for a total of four greenhouses including advanced smart climate engineering units.

For Sport Tourism development, this approach opens opportunities for far more varied activities beyond playing golf. Visitors will be able to enjoy nature-based recreation while learning about agricultural practices all within the same estate.

GOLF expects this initiative will expand visitor activities and encourage longer length of stay. However, the success of this model will depend on how these amenities are developed into engaging, high-value tourism experiences for guests.

Bali And Golf Tourism Potential

Bali is a strategic region for Golf Business development. In official company statements, New Kuta Golf is confirmed as the largest revenue contributor for the group.

During the first half of 2026, New Kuta Golf recorded revenue of IDR 78.62 billion, a 56.2% increase compared to the same period the prior year. This figure represented 84.9% of GOLF's total group revenue of IDR 92.63 billion.

Development potential in the area is also supported by Bali's ongoing tourism and premium property growth. Citing official Statistics Indonesia data, international tourist arrivals to Bali reached 685,994 in August 2026, marking a 0.5% year-on-year increase.

Meanwhile, REID industry research recorded 4,220 villa transactions in Bali over the 12 month period ending mid 2026. Median sales prices rose 3.1% year-on-year to IDR 5.27 billion.

These market trends form the context for integrated development of New Kuta Golf alongside The Links Golf Villa. Combining world class Golf Courses with premium residential accommodation is expected to expand the visitor base and create long term asset monetisation opportunities.

Residential, Retail And Event Amenities Complete The Estate

New Kuta Golf development also includes residential and commercial facilities. GOLF is continuing handover processes for The Links Golf Villa Cluster 1 as part of its real estate business line.

In October 2026, the company held the soft opening of LIVORA, a supermarket and lifestyle retail outlet located within the Tebing Commercial Building. This commercial structure spans approximately 1,400 square metres, with LIVORA operating across 250 square metres of this space.

LIVORA stocks daily necessities, fresh produce and gourmet goods. Its presence adds convenient amenities for residents and visitors, while also generating recurring retail revenue streams.

GOLF is also developing a dedicated event venue adjacent to the 17th hole of New Kuta Golf. Leveraging panoramic views over the golf course, Pecatu cliffline and Balinese natural landscape, this facility is designed to host private functions and public recreational activities.

This full suite of amenities demonstrates New Kuta Golf's development direction as an integrated precinct that connects sport, residential living, commercial services and tourism experiences.

Challenges Building Sport Tourism Destinations

Complete supporting infrastructure is a foundational requirement for developing sports Tourism Destinations. However, long term appeal is not built on infrastructure alone: it also depends on service quality and the actual visitor experience delivered.

Through its participation at IGF 2026, GOLF has presented an approach that positions golf as one component of a wider integrated Tourism Ecosystem. Agrotourism has been developed as a unique differentiator, pairing sporting activity with outdoor recreation and environmental education.

The next challenge will be translating these physical facilities into genuinely compelling experiences for all visitors, including those who do not play golf.

If executed consistently, New Kuta Golf is well positioned to establish itself as a leading integrated destination uniting sport, nature and lifestyle. This model also demonstrates how golf can play an expanded role in the development of sport tourism across Bali.
