Five-Goal Thriller at Wembley: Spain Stages Comeback to Defeat England 3-2

Spain's national team kicked off their UEFA Nations League campaign with a dramatic victory. La Roja secured a 3-2 win over England in their League A Group 3 fixture, held at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday local time.

The match was tightly contested right from kickoff. Spain drew first blood through Lamine Yamal, before England hit back with two goals from Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane to turn the game around and take the lead.

The side managed by Luis de la Fuente continued to pile pressure on England's defence. Another good chance fell their way when Lamine Yamal played a pass through to Dani Olmo, but the effort drifted wide of the target.

In the 36th minute, England finally found an equaliser. A delivery from Jude Bellingham was converted by Anthony Gordon to make the score 1-1.

Momentum then swung firmly in favour of The Three Lions. Just four minutes later, England took a 2-1 lead as Harry Kane finished off a pass from Nico O'Reilly.

Heading into the second half, England looked to maintain their momentum by taking the initiative on the attack. They were presented with a golden chance to extend their lead when they were awarded a penalty kick.

Harry Kane was entrusted to take the spot kick, but the England striker failed to convert this golden opportunity as his effort crashed against Spain's crossbar.

This missed penalty proved to be the major turning point of the match. Spain capitalised on the let-off by ramping up their pressure, eventually drawing level in the 60th minute.

Dani Olmo played a through pass which was met cleanly by Alex Baena. The ball found the back of England's net, bringing the score back level at 2-2.

Spain grew increasingly aggressive after pulling themselves level. Their sustained pressure finally paid off with a third goal in the 74th minute.

Mikel Oyarzabal was the player who put La Roja back in front. His clinical finish could not be stopped by England Goalkeeper James Trafford, Putting Spain 3-2 ahead.

England pushed desperately for an equaliser during the remaining minutes of the match, but none of The Three Lions' attempts resulted in another goal.

The 3-2 scoreline held firm until the final whistle blew. Spain claimed the victory, getting their UEFA Nations League campaign off to a winning start with three full points.
