Persija Jakarta holds a golden opportunity to pull further away from their rivals in the race for the BRI Super League 2026/2027 title. However, this chance must be fought for as Macan Kemayoran faces a tough test away at Dewa United Banten FC's home ground.
Persija will travel to Banten International Stadium, Serang on Saturday (31/10/2026) at 19.00 WIB for this 8th matchweek of the Super League. This fixture pits two teams sitting at the top of the provisional league standings against one another.
Persija currently lead the table with 18 points from seven matches. Shin Tae-yong's side have recorded six wins and one defeat, scoring 17 goals while only conceding 6 times.

Meanwhile, Dewa United sit in 2nd place with 14 points, collected from four wins, two draws and one loss. They have scored 12 goals and conceded 10 so far this campaign.
This means a victory in Serang will see Persija extend their lead over their closest rival to seven points. Conversely, should Dewa United claim the win, the title race at the top of the table will tighten significantly.
Bung Kesit: Persija Have Plenty of Options
Football Analyst Kesit Budi Handoyo assessed Persija hold solid foundations going into this match. He highlighted their 2-1 win over Persik Kediri on 26 October, particularly noting Persija's clinical effectiveness from dead ball situations.
Both of Persija's goals in that fixture were scored by Denis Kolinger and Rizky Ridho. This demonstrated that Macan Kemayoran carry goal threat that does not originate solely from their forward line.
According to Bung Kesit, with the player quality currently at their disposal, Persija should not face issues purely from playing an away fixture. Their squad depth and individual player quality will be key assets to withstand the home side's pressure.
Bung Ropan: Do Not Get Caught Out Again
Ronny Pangemanan also agreed Persija have a very open path to the league title. For Bung Ropan, player motivation and squad depth are major strengths, especially now that Shin Tae-yong has begun handing playing opportunities to young squad members.
Denis Kolinger's goalscoring form also adds an extra attacking dimension, while Alexander Jeremejeff remains the main focal point up front.
The Swedish striker has already netted six goals in seven Super League appearances this season. This consistent output is one of the core reasons Persija carry such a dangerous attacking threat.
Even so, Bung Ropan warned Persija must not underestimate Dewa United. The hosts boast a number of high calibre players including Taisei Marukawa, Ivar Jenner, Ricky Kambuaya, Rafael Struick, Egy Maulana Vikri and Nick Kuipers.
Dewa United are also hungry to bounce back after suffering a heavy 0-4 defeat against Arema FC in their previous fixture.
Persija themselves must learn from their 2-3 loss against Persita Tangerang. Dominating possession and creating numerous chances will never guarantee victory if defensive concentration drops.
After facing Dewa United, Persija still have upcoming tough tests against Persebaya Surabaya and Bhayangkara FC. The latter remain unbeaten after seven matches, with two wins and five draws to their name.
Press On While Persib Are Distracted
Persija have a valuable momentum window they must capitalise on. One of their main title rivals, Persib Bandung, are currently forced to split their focus between domestic and continental competition, competing in both the Super League and AFC Champions League Two. Persib also just played against Melbourne Victory on 28 October, and will not return to Super League action until 1 November.
Persija on the other hand are able to focus fully on the Super League title race. This advantage of undivided competitive focus must be converted into consistent points hauls.
This analysis was discussed on the ITSMe Podcast recorded in Sentul, Bogor, featuring Football Analyst Ronny Pangemanan and Kesit Budi Handoyo, hosted by Gilang Respaty and Pudila.
This upcoming fixture against Dewa United stands as a critical litmus test for Persija's title ambitions. Securing all three points will not only widen their lead at the top, but also send a clear message to all rivals that Macan Kemayoran are serious contenders for this season's championship.
