The organisation status of the 2027 Asian Cup remains under close scrutiny amid ongoing security conditions across the Middle East. While tournament organisers have announced the event will still proceed as scheduled, and the AFC has published the full match calendar, a final binding decision will be deliberated at the AFC Executive Committee (Exco) meeting on 18 November.

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir confirmed he has received an official invitation to attend this meeting in Bangkok, Thailand. He urged all parties to await the outcome of the AFC discussions before drawing any conclusions regarding the tournament's certainty.

"That is 18 November, if I recall correctly. Let us wait for the AFC Exco meeting in Bangkok. I have also been invited, we will see what decision comes out of it," stated Erick after attending the gala premiere of The Longest Wait film at Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta, Wednesday evening.

The 2027 Asian Cup is officially scheduled to be hosted in Saudi Arabia from 7 January to 5 February 2027. However, recent security developments across the Middle East region have raised widespread questions over the viability of this plan.

Previously, speculation emerged that this 19th edition of the tournament could be postponed to 2028. This discourse grew alongside mounting security concerns within the host nation's region.

Despite these uncertainties, on 16 October tournament organisers publicly reaffirmed the 2027 Asian Cup would be held according to the original schedule. The AFC followed this announcement by releasing the complete full match fixture list on 26 October, covering all matches from the group stage through to the final.

Indonesia National Team Schedule for 2027 Asian Cup

Even while doubts over the tournament remain, the Indonesian National Team has already been assigned their Group F match agenda.

The Garuda Squad will compete against Japan, Qatar and Thailand to secure qualification for the knockout stages.

Indonesia will open their tournament campaign against Japan on 11 January 2027. This match is scheduled for 17.30 WIB at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium, Jeddah.

Five days later, Indonesia will play their second group fixture against Qatar. This match will be held at 23.30 WIB on 16 January 2027 at Aramco Stadium, Al Khobar.

The Garuda squad will conclude their group stage matches against Thailand on 20 January 2027. This fixture is scheduled for 17.30 WIB at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah.

This full Match Schedule forms part of Indonesia's preparations for the Group F competition. Japan, Qatar and Thailand are all considered formidable opponents as the national team aims to progress past the group stage at Asia's largest football tournament.

AFC Meeting Will Determine All Preparations Roadmap

While the AFC's full fixture release provided clarity on planned tournament arrangements, all focus is now directed to the outcome of the AFC Exco meeting in Bangkok due to the evolving security situation in the Middle East.

The 18 November gathering is the critical milestone that will confirm the latest status of the tournament. Erick Thohir will attend this discussion as one of the invited official delegates.

Until an official decision is announced by the AFC, Saudi Arabia remains the listed 2027 Asian Cup Host Nation with the tournament still scheduled for 7 January to 5 February.

Confirmation on the future of this plan is being closely followed not only by participating teams, but also football supporters across Asia, including Indonesia National Team Supporters.
