indonesiatravelsport.com - The Indonesia National Team is preparing for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, running from 24 September to 5 October. The Garuda Squad has been placed in Group A and will host all their matches at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta.
Alongside Indonesia, Group A also features Singapore, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. These three group stage fixtures are the first hurdle for John Herdman's side as they chase qualification for the final of this new FIFA-sanctioned tournament.
John Herdman's squad will play their opening match on Friday 25 September against Singapore at SUGBK, kicking off at 20.00 WIB.

Indonesia as Host, How Much is the Champion's Prize Money for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026?
Indonesia is set to host the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, with Bandung and Jakarta currently making preparations for the tournament.
Following the opening game, Indonesia will return to action on Monday 28 September. Malaysia will be their next opponent, with that match scheduled for a 19.30 WIB kick-off.
The clash against Malaysia is one of the most anticipated fixtures of the entire group stage. The historic rivalry between the two nations gives this match unique public appeal, as well as acting as a critical test for Indonesia's bid to finish top of Group A.
Indonesia's final group stage match will see them face Bangladesh. This fixture will be held at SUGBK on Thursday 1 October, starting at 19.30 WIB.
Under the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup format, every team will only face each group opponent once. The winners of Group A and Group B will progress directly to the tournament final, while the two group runners-up will compete for third place.
Group B consists of Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Pakistan. All Group B matches will be hosted at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency.
This means that should Indonesia finish first in Group A, they will play the final match back at SUGBK. The tournament showpiece is scheduled for Monday 5 October with a 20.00 WIB kick-off.
Meanwhile, the third place play-off will be held earlier on that same day. The two group runners-up will face each other at SUGBK from 16.00 WIB.
Beyond the on-pitch competition, the FIFA ASEAN Cup has also been designed as a new platform to strengthen football cooperation and relations between nations across the Southeast Asian region.
PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir stated that FIFA's trust in appointing Indonesia as tournament host is both a great honour and a major responsibility for domestic Indonesian football.
