Bogor – Persib Bandung once again demonstrated their Champion pedigree as they defeated Garudayaksa FC 2-1 in the 7th matchweek of the BRI Super League 2026/2027, held at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor on Sunday (25/10/2026). This victory was only secured after a hard fought battle right down to the final seconds of the match.

Adam Alis' 90+2 minute goal sealed all three points for Maung Bandung, after the match had been locked at 1-1.

Persib took an early lead through Mariano Peralta in the 16th minute. Garudayaksa later equalised via Jayro Jean in the 65th minute. Just as the fixture looked set to end level, Adam Alis stepped up as Persib's match winner.

This dramatic finish became the core discussion topic on the ITSMe podcast featuring Football Analyst Ronny Pangemanan and Ophan Lamara, recorded at Sentul Studio, Bogor on Tuesday (27/10/2026). Hosted by Syafira and Pudula, the session broke down Persib's winning mentality alongside the upcoming challenges awaiting the club in Asian continental competition.

For Ronny, Persib's ability to recover and push on when facing adversity is the defining hallmark of a genuine championship calibre team. No side can afford to fold easily when matches deviate from plan; without this resilient mindset, teams will crack under pressure and fail to find solutions during critical match moments.

Adam Alis' late goal perfectly illustrates How fighting until the final whistle can completely alter match outcomes. That said, this dramatic victory does not resolve all of Persib's on-pitch issues. The club still must evaluate why they failed to protect their early lead, and were forced to rely on stoppage time to secure the three points.

Ophan Lamara observed that every opposition side gains extra motivation when facing Persib. Beating Maung Bandung is treated as a major achievement, due to their long established reputation as one of the dominant powerhouses of Indonesian Football. This status means Persib will always face an elevated standard of challenge in every single fixture they play.

For this reason, Ophan noted Persib do not need to produce attractive, stylish Football every match. For the coaching staff and playing squad, securing victory will always remain the top priority. That being said, positive results must always be paired with structured post-match evaluation to ensure overall performance quality continues to improve.

Persib holds solid advantages with deep squad depth and proven experience competing at the highest domestic level. The quality of players available allows the head coach to adjust lineups and tactics flexibly according to match requirements. However this adaptability must be matched with consistent performance, so that the club does not become permanently reliant on last minute winning goals.

Prior to defeating Garudayaksa, Persib suffered a 0-1 loss against Madura United on 22 October. They had also previously fallen 1-2 to Persija Jakarta back in September. These two results act as a reminder that consistency remains a critical area to maintain amid the fiercely tight domestic league competition.

The win over Garudayaksa proved Persib are capable of bouncing back from poor results, but upcoming fixtures will demand the team maintain stable performance across both home and away matches.

The next major test comes in continental competition. Persib are scheduled to host Melbourne Victory on Wednesday (28/10/2026) at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, for their upcoming Group E fixture of the AFC Champions League Two 2026/2027. Kickoff is scheduled for 19:15 WIB.

Persib currently hold 6 points from their opening two group matches, following wins against FC Seoul and The Cong-Viettel FC. Victory over Melbourne Victory will take Maung Bandung to 9 points from three fixtures, and significantly strengthen their qualification chances for the tournament knockout stages.

The fighting champion mentality displayed against Garudayaksa will be a valuable asset for this fixture. However, facing Melbourne Victory will require far more than just determination. Tactical maturity, attacking efficiency and consistent performance across the full 90 minutes will be the true measure of how far Persib can translate their continental ambitions into tangible results.
