Jakarta - After more than three years of waiting, Persija Jakarta finally ended their winless run against Persib Bandung at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, Saturday (12/9/2026).
The Macan Kemayoran secured a dramatic 2-1 victory in the second matchweek of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League. Ivan Mamut claimed the match-winning goal with a header scored in the 90+5th minute.
This win carries extra significance as it also marks Persija's first home fixture against Persib in Jakarta after nearly seven years. The last time this rival clash was hosted by Persija in the capital was back in 2019.

Anticipation for the return of Indonesia's El Clasico to Jakarta was already palpable long before kickoff.

Jeremejeff Opens The Scoring
The match was played at high intensity right from the first whistle.
Persija looked to seize control as the home side, while Persib opted to retain defensive shape while probing for counter-attacking openings.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 41st minute.
Alexander Jeremejeff put Persija 1-0 ahead after converting an opportunity created down the right flank. The goal was met with a deafening roar from the SUGBK stands.
Persija held this lead through to the end of the first half.
But Persib were not finished yet.
Persib Equalise
As the second half got underway, the match opened up significantly.
Persib ramped up pressure searching for an equaliser. The Maung Bandung side created multiple dangerous chances, including a strike from Luka Menalo that crashed against the goalpost.
This sustained pressure finally paid off in the 81st minute.
Balsa Sekulic found the back of the net to level the scores at 1-1.
This goal threw the match wide open once again.
Persija pushed forward searching for a second goal, while Persib began to sense an opportunity to turn the result completely in their favour.

Prior to this match, Persija's last win against their rivals came on 31 March 2023, a 2-0 victory at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium.
Following that fixture, Persib went unbeaten across the next six league meetings, recording four wins and two draws before this run was broken at SUGBK.
Notably, in the two most recent league clashes before this game, Persib had beaten Persija 1-0 in January 2026 and 2-1 in May 2026.
