Dewa United pulled off a dramatic way to seize the provisional top spot of the 2026/27 BRI Super League. Two injury time goals carried the Tangsel Warriors to a 3-1 victory over Borneo FC at Segiri Stadium, Samarinda, on Wednesday.
With this win, Dewa United have collected seven points from three matches, placing them first in the temporary league standings.
Claiming all three points in Samarinda was far from straightforward. Dewa United took an early lead in the 13th minute through Johnathan Pereira, before Borneo FC hit back immediately after the half-time break.

Ikhsan Nul Zikrak scored in the 48th minute to level the score at 1-1. The match then entered a tight, high-intensity phase as both sides pushed to find a decisive winning goal.
Dewa United ultimately showed their resilience late in the fixture. Denilson Junior proved the difference, netting a brace in the closing minutes to seal the 3-1 victory for the visiting side.
For Osmar Loss, this match against Borneo delivered a clear lesson: no team can always rely on executing their pre-planned game system perfectly.
When on-pitch tactics do not go as expected, fighting spirit becomes the critical factor that can turn the tide of a match.
"It is important for us to understand that sometimes, when our on-field performance does not meet expectations, we have to fight harder and show greater grit to overcome the challenges of the game. After scoring our first goal, we lost a degree of control and started coming off worse in individual duels," Loss stated, as quoted from the official I.League website on Thursday.
This mentality was on full display as Dewa United withstood the pressure after the score was levelled at 1-1. They never lost their composure, until openings emerged for them to retake control of the fixture in the final stages.
Denilson's double capped off Dewa United's battling performance perfectly. The Brazilian striker did not only bring three points back from Samarinda, he also once again demonstrated his clinical finishing in front of goal.
With these two additional goals, Denilson now holds four goals in the Super League, putting him level with Madura United forward Dimitar Mitkov as the competition's provisional top scorer.
Denilson explained that securing victory at Borneo's home ground held special meaning for him. The 31 year old cited the trust shown by the club as one of the main reasons he is enjoying his time with Dewa United.
"I am so happy to wear this jersey. This club opened the door for me, put their faith in me, and stood behind me," he said.
This win over Borneo marks Dewa United's second away victory this season. Previously, they had already picked up three points on the road with a 1-0 win at Persik Kediri's home ground.
Seven points from three matches gives the side valuable early momentum as they continue their campaign in the opening stages of the 2026/27 Super League.
For Borneo FC meanwhile, this defeat stings especially after they managed to equalise early in the second half. Denilson's two late goals crushed the home side's chances of securing even a single point at Segiri Stadium.
This is Borneo's second consecutive home defeat this season. Prior to this match, they also dropped all three points when they hosted Persija Jakarta in the Super League opening fixture.
