Young Indonesian Riders, Veda Ega Pratama, has once again carved a historic achievement on the global motorcycle racing stage. This Honda Team Asia rider secured second place in the main Moto3 Malaysia 2026 race at Sepang International Circuit on Sunday, 1 November 2026.

This result marks Veda's best career performance throughout his Moto3 campaign. The racer hailing from Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta, claimed this podium finish after battling through tight competition against multiple top-tier riders.

Veda crossed the finish line just behind Maximo Quiles of CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team, who took the race victory. Meanwhile Alvaro Carpe of Red Bull KTM Ajo completed the podium in third position.

This success further adds to Veda's impressive record during his debut 2026 Moto3 World Championship season. Having previously taken third place at the Brazilian Grand Prix, the number 9 rider has now bettered his achievement by claiming runner-up position at Sepang.

Eighth Place Start, Veda Immediately Battled At The Front Pack

Starting the race from eighth on the grid, Veda demonstrated competitive pace right as the starting lights went out.

The opening stages of the race were fiercely contested. Veda immediately began working his way up the order, climbing to sixth position by the end of the first lap.

Elsewhere, David Almansa held the early race lead before Maximo Quiles took over first position on lap six.

Veda maintained consistent speed and started breaking into the leading group. On lap eight, this Indonesian Rider moved up into third place after overtaking both David Almansa and Hakim Danish.

The battle became even more gripping when Veda briefly claimed second position, before pressure from Alvaro Carpe forced the Indonesian Rider back down to third.

Entering lap nine, Veda reclaimed second place. However the fight was far from over, with constant pressure from chasing riders keeping all podium positions well within reach.

Dropped To Fourth Place, Veda Mounted Comeback In Final Two Laps

Veda faced his biggest challenge on lap 11. He lost two positions after being passed by Hakim Danish and Alvaro Carpe, dropping him down to fourth place.

This situation made a podium finish look increasingly difficult, but Veda did not lose his drive.

As the race entered its closing stages, the Honda Team Asia rider once again showcased his race craft and ability to read on-track battles.

With just two laps remaining, Veda successfully fought his way back into second position. He then held this place firmly all the way across the finish line.

This result confirmed Veda's second place podium at Moto3 Malaysia 2026, and remains his best result at world championship level to date.

20 Additional Points Takes Veda's Total To 131 Points

The second place podium at Sepang earned Veda Ega Pratama an additional 20 championship points. This brings his total tally to 131 points in the provisional 2026 Moto3 Standings.

These extra points provide valuable momentum for Veda to solidify his position in this season's championship battle.

Meanwhile, victory in Malaysia further cemented Maximo Quiles' hold on the top of the standings, as he now sits on 376 total points.

For Veda, this Sepang achievement is clear proof of his promising development during his first Moto3 season. He has now proven he is not only capable of finishing inside the top ten, but possesses the ability to fight for race victories.

From Brazilian Podium To Sepang Runner-Up

Veda's 2026 season campaign has already created multiple landmark moments for Indonesian Motorsport.

MotoGP official records also list Veda as the first Indonesian rider to achieve a world championship podium finish.

His progress continued at the Malaysian Grand Prix. This time, Veda bettered his previous milestone by taking second place after a hard fought battle over the full race distance.

This success at Sepang is far more than just a personal career achievement. This result also demonstrates the growing competitiveness of Indonesian riders on the international motorcycle racing stage.
