indonesiatravelsport.com - The second matchweek of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League kicks off on Friday 11 September 2026. Out of the nine scheduled fixtures, the clash between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung emerges as the main attraction, bringing together two giant clubs with a long historic rivalry and shared ambitions to compete at the top of the league table.

Persija will act as the home side when they host Persib at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium, Jakarta on Saturday 12 September 2026 at 15.30 WIB.

This match is an opportunity for Persija to continue their positive start to the season. Nicknamed Macan Kemayoran, the side previously took all three points away at Borneo FC on matchweek one following a 1-0 victory.

Persija now holds the additional advantage of home ground status. Supporter backing inside GBK will provide extra energy for the squad to secure another win, while also placing pressure on Persib right from kick-off.

Persija have also added firepower to their front line this season. The capital club completed the signing of Croatian striker Ivan Mamut shortly ahead of this fixture against Persib.

On the opposing side, Persib arrive with high confidence. Known as Maung Bandung, the club are defending three consecutive top-flight Indonesian league titles and have no intention of losing momentum early in the 2026/2027 campaign.

Persib opened the competition with a 3-1 win over PSM Makassar. Having fallen behind early in the game, Igor Tolic's squad successfully turned the tide and secured all three points on opening day.

With that result as foundation, Persib have every reason to target a positive outcome in Jakarta. This fixture also carries unique historical weight, as it marks Persib's first match against Persija at the GBK Stadium since 2019.

The return of this iconic rivalry fixture at GBK elevates anticipation for the second Super League matchweek. Beyond just three league points on the line, this match serves as an early stage for both high-ambition sides to demonstrate their strength at the beginning of the season.

Alongside Persija vs Persib, the second matchweek of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League will play out eight other fixtures. Persijap Jepara will face Borneo FC, while PSM Makassar will look to bounce back when they host Arema FC.

Nevertheless, the biggest spotlight remains fixed on GBK. With both Persija and Persib having opened the season with victories, this Saturday afternoon clash is far more than an ordinary league match - it is the first major early test for both clubs' title ambitions in the 2026/2027 BRI Super League.
