indonesiatravelsport.com - Persib Bandung has called on Bobotoh supporters to refrain from travelling directly to Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium, Jakarta, when Maung Bandung faces Persija on Saturday 12 September for the second matchweek of the 2026/27 Super League. This appeal forms part of efforts to keep the classic derby safe amid the long-running rivalry between the two clubs.

Persib Bandung manager Umuh Muchtar confirmed that the agreement to not bring Persib supporters to Jakarta must be collectively respected. For Persib, safety and public order are absolute priorities before any consideration of match results.

"I am stating our clear commitment: not a single person may attend this match, no exceptions. We are prioritising everyone's safety above all. At the end of the day, Persib will come out on top," Umuh stated during an official announcement in Bandung.

Umuh asked Bobotoh to understand this decision and continue showing support from Bandung. He explained that loyalty to Persib does not need to be proven by attending the stadium in person for this away fixture against Persija.

As an alternative, Bobotoh may join one of the official public viewing (nobar) events being organised across Bandung and surrounding regions. This arrangement is designed to let supporters still experience full match atmosphere while upholding the shared security agreement.

"We will gather together for the viewing, celebrate, share meals, and with full support from local and provincial police leadership this will be an incredible event," Umuh added.

These public viewings also allow Persib to keep the collective support energy from Bobotoh flowing towards the squad. Support broadcast from locations across Bandung is expected to build a strong sense of unity, without introducing additional security risks around GBK Stadium.

Separately, Persib captain Marc Klok also spoke about the importance of supporter conduct during the fixture. While the Persib-Persija rivalry always carries high tension, Klok noted that enthusiasm must always be balanced with respectful behaviour and sportsmanship.

"I hope all supporters remain safe, that everyone on both sides of this rivalry conducts themselves properly. We are all right to feel excited for this match," he said.

Klok acknowledged how vital Bobotoh are to Persib. Even so, he reaffirmed that support does not require travelling to Jakarta. The passion of fans cheering from Bandung will still act as critical extra motivation for the players against Persija.

"We need Bobotoh behind us, supporting us, lifting our spirit. That energy they carry will be with us. This Saturday's match is a matter of pride, and we will fight for it with them right at our backs," Klok stated.

The Persija vs Persib fixture is one of the most anticipated matches of the 2026/27 Super League second matchweek. Persija enter the game following an opening 1-0 win over Borneo FC, while Persib began their season with a 3-1 victory against PSM Makassar.

This GBK fixture will also serve as a chance for Persib to defend their positive start to the new campaign.
