Janice Tjen has once again secured a new achievement on the international tennis stage. The Indonesian tennis player successfully claimed the Women's Doubles title at the Japan Open 2026 alongside Australian professional Storm Hunter. The pair defeated Czech duo Jesika Maleckova / Miriam Skoch in the final match held in Osaka, Japan on Saturday, 24 October 2026.

Janice & Hunter sealed their victory in straight sets with a scoreline of 6-4, 6-1. They wrapped up the match in 1 hour and 7 minutes, officially confirming their tournament championship status.

This win was built on the consistent solid performance Janice and Hunter maintained throughout the full match. The pair won 53 percent of all total points played, while Maleckova and Skoch only claimed 47 percent of available points.

In the opening set, Janice and Hunter came out playing with aggressive intent. The Indonesian-Australian partnership held their lead firmly even as the opposing side mounted repeated comeback attempts.

Maleckova and Skoch squandered multiple scoring opportunities due to unforced self-inflicted errors. This situation worked in Janice and Hunter's favour, allowing them to close out the first set 6-4.

Moving into the second set, Janice and Hunter's dominance became even more pronounced. They maintained constant pressure on their opponents, as the Czech pair struggled to retain any consistency in their gameplay.

Janice and Hunter progressed through the second set with almost no resistance, closing out the entire match with a 6-1 set win. This result officially awarded the Japan Open 2026 championship title to the cross-national pair.

Janice & Hunter Navigated A Difficult Route To The Final

This championship title capped off an impressive tournament run for Janice and Hunter at Japan Open 2026. The pair had to battle through multiple high-difficulty matches before lifting the trophy.

In the opening tournament round, Janice and Hunter recorded a straight sets victory over Ingrid Martins / Sara Sorribes Tormo.

A far tougher test awaited them in the Quarter Finals, where Janice and Hunter faced Taiwanese pairing Ya-Hsin Lee / Fang-Hsien Wu.

Janice and Hunter dropped the first set 4-6, before fighting back strongly to take the second set 6-3.

The match was decided via a match tie-break. Janice and Hunter retained their composure through the high-pressure decisive moment, winning the tie-break 10-6 to secure their semi-final spot.

Another major challenge awaited in the semi-final round, where they faced Isabelle Haverlag / Lilli Tagger. Janice and Hunter started strongly, taking the opening set 6-2.

However, Haverlag and Tagger mounted a fierce fightback in the second set, taking it 7-5 to force the match into another deciding match tie-break.

In the final decider, Janice and Hunter ultimately edged out a narrow 10-8 win to advance to the tournament final.

Surviving these two gruelling three-set matches provided critical experience for Janice and Hunter, allowing them to perform in dominant fashion for the championship final. They maintained peak form against Maleckova and Skoch to finish the tournament as undefeated champions.

Janice Tjen's 2026 Career Achievements

The Japan Open 2026 title adds another milestone to Janice Tjen's already successful 2026 season. The 24-year-old athlete had already claimed championship titles at two separate tournaments earlier this year.

Janice first lifted a trophy at the WTA 250 tier Hobart International, where she partnered with Polish player Katarzyna Piter to win the Women's Doubles event.

Following that, Janice claimed another title at the WTA 125 tier Birmingham Open 2026 alongside Australian player Talia Gibson.

This latest success with Storm Hunter at the Japan Open further confirms Janice's consistent world-class form on the international tennis circuit. With three doubles titles secured across the 2026 season, she continues to build strong positive competitive momentum across every tournament she enters.
