Chelsea had to swallow a 0-2 defeat when hosting Tottenham Hotspur in an English League fixture at Stamford Bridge Stadium on Saturday, 24 October 2026. An own goal from Mike Penders and Mathys Tel's finish sealed the away side's victory, while The Blues were forced to finish the match with 10 men after Cole Palmer was shown a red card.

This result leaves Chelsea sat in 4th place in the provisional Standings with 13 points. They are three points behind Brighton who occupy third position. Meanwhile, Tottenham sit in 12th place on six points, based on English Premier League standings data.

Chelsea attempted to take control of the game right from the opening minutes. However, Tottenham played with aggression and repeatedly threatened the home side's defensive area.

In the 13th minute, Palmer looked to build an attack with a pass to Morgan Rogers. Unfortunately, this move failed to produce a dangerous chance on Tottenham's goal.

The away side got their first opportunity in the 29th minute. A cross from Andy Robertson found Omar Marmoush inside the penalty area, but Mike Penders managed to clear the danger.

Tottenham Goalkeeper Kinsky also produced a sharp reaction to deny Mathys Tel's shot, though this chance would not have counted regardless as Tel was caught in an offside position.

Chelsea tried to respond through Pedro Neto in the 35th minute, but Kinsky pulled off another vital save to keep his goal intact as the first half came to a close.

After the restart, Tottenham were forced into an early substitution. James Maddison picked up an injury and was withdrawn in the 51st minute, replaced by Gallagher.

Chelsea attempted to capitalise on this situation by increasing their attacking intensity. Both Palmer and Neto tested Tottenham's defence on multiple occasions, but Kinsky continued to repel every threat.

The breakthrough goal finally arrived for Tottenham in the 77th minute. From a corner kick, Penders misjudged the flight of the ball. His attempted headed clearance went wrong, sending the ball into his own net and Putting Spurs 1-0 ahead.

Chelsea's situation worsened just three minutes later. Palmer was shown a straight red card in the 80th minute for a stamp on Gallagher. This decision meant the home side had to play out the rest of the match with only 10 players.

This red card also marked Chelsea's 100th red card in their entire history in the English top flight. The Blues become just the third club to reach this tally, following Everton with 113 red cards and Arsenal with 110.

With the numerical advantage, Tottenham were able to press Chelsea's defence far more freely. Mathys Tel doubled the visitors' lead in the 87th minute as a result.

Tel drove forward with the ball before firing a low, placed shot into the bottom right corner of Penders' goal. This strike made the score 2-0, confirming Tottenham's victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
