Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli claimed victory at the 2026 Formula 1 (F1) United States Grand Prix, held at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas on Monday.
The Italian driver delivered an impressive performance, finishing ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc in second place, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen completing the podium in third. A single pit stop strategy was one of the key factors that secured Antonelli's win.
This result brings Antonelli's total race wins for the 2026 F1 season up to nine. While he has not yet mathematically sealed the World Championship title in Austin, the Mercedes driver has further strengthened his position in the title battle.

Kimi Antonelli Takes Lessons from Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Starting from 16th Position Concludes the Race with a 5th Place Finish.
Antonelli got off to a strong start, immediately capitalising on Verstappen's launch error to take the lead on the very first lap. Once out front, he controlled the race pace while managing tyre wear in order to hold his advantage.
The one-stop strategy proved highly effective for Antonelli. While most of his rivals opted for a two-stop approach, he was able to maximise performance on the medium compound tyres before switching to hard tyres later in the race.
This call allowed Antonelli to maintain consistent speed across all 56 race laps. He crossed the finish line with a 13.078 second advantage over Leclerc.
The order was briefly shaken late in the race when a Virtual Safety Car (VSC) period was deployed. This forced all drivers to reduce their speed, but Antonelli's lead remained unchallenged throughout the neutralisation.
Leclerc secured second place after pulling off a critical overtake in the final stages of the race. This marks the Monégasque driver's second consecutive podium finish with Ferrari.
Meanwhile, Verstappen had to overcome multiple performance issues with his Red Bull car. Despite the setbacks, the Dutch driver held on to third place to complete the United States Grand Prix podium.
Lewis Hamilton scored additional points for Ferrari by finishing fourth. Lando Norris missed out on a top three finish after suffering heavy tyre degradation late in the race, with the McLaren driver eventually crossing the line in fifth position.
Isack Hadjar took sixth place for Red Bull, while Oscar Piastri finished seventh for McLaren. George Russell had a disappointing race, settling for eighth position.
Liam Lawson crossed the line ninth, followed by Pierre Gasly in tenth who claimed the final points-paying position from the race.
Nico Hulkenberg finished just outside the points in 11th place, followed by Arvid Lindblad and Gabriel Bortoleto. Notably, Bortoleto still managed to finish the race despite receiving an 80-place grid penalty ahead of the event.
Esteban Ocon came home 14th, ahead of the two Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. This result means Haas left their home Grand Prix without scoring any championship points.
Williams also failed to add to their points tally, with Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz finishing 17th and 18th respectively. Sergio Perez ended the race in 19th position.
This result extends Williams' points drought to three consecutive race weekends.
Three drivers retired from the 2026 United States Grand Prix: Franco Colapinto of Alpine, Haas' Oliver Bearman, and Cadillac's Valtteri Bottas.
Bottas was the cause of the Virtual Safety Car period, after his car came to a stop at the side of the track. This incident neutralised the race for the final laps.
Even so, this interruption did not alter the running order at the front of the field. Antonelli successfully defended his lead all the way to the chequered flag to seal his victory in Austin.
