Janice Tjen and Venus Williams are edging closer to the Women's Doubles title at the Guangzhou Open 2026. This Indonesia-United States duo confirmed their semi-final spot after defeating Lyudmyla Kichenok/Makoto Ninomiya 6-1, 6-3 during the Quarter Final in Guangzhou, China.

Janice/Williams only needed 58 minutes to secure this victory at the WTA 250 tournament. They played aggressively from the very first point, taking full control of the match and leaving their opponents almost no room to build momentum.

This dominance was clearly visible in the opening set. Janice/Williams immediately pressured Kichenok/Ninomiya before closing out the set with a convincing 6-1 win. Solid combined play and consistent performance allowed this Indonesia-United States pairing to hold command of the match right from the start.

Entering the second set, Kichenok/Ninomiya attempted to step up their resistance. However, Janice/Williams refused to let their opponents turn the tide. They eventually locked in the 6-3 win and confirmed their ticket to the final four.

Match statistics reinforce Janice/Williams' advantage. They won 61 percent of total points played, while Kichenok/Ninomiya only claimed 39 percent.

Janice Tjen/Venus Williams Will Face Kudermetova/Timofeeva

The next challenge for Janice/Williams will be the partnership of Polina Kudermetova and Maria Timofeeva. The two pairs will meet in the Guangzhou Open 2026 women's doubles semi-final on Saturday, 31 October.

Kudermetova/Timofeeva secured their own semi-final berth after winning their Quarter Final match against Andreja Klepac/Eri Hozumi.

This upcoming fixture will be the next test for Janice/Williams as they push to reach the tournament's championship final.

For Janice personally, this doubles run gives her a chance to extend her campaign in Guangzhou, after she was eliminated from the singles draw in the Round of 16.

The Indonesian tennis player was beaten by Great Britain's Harriet Dart in a three-set match that ended 4-6, 6-3, 3-6.

That singles fixture lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes. Despite failing to progress further in the singles event, Janice now has the opportunity to chase a top result alongside Williams in the doubles competition.

Promising Start For Janice Tjen And Venus Williams

Janice/Williams opened their Guangzhou Open 2026 campaign with a first round win against Georgia-Belgium pairing Ekaterine Gorgodze/Kimberley Zimmerman on Monday 26 October. They took the match 6-0, 7-5 to advance to the quarter finals.

Their victory over Kichenok/Ninomiya shows the positive development of this Janice/Williams partnership. Having come through two matches successfully, they now require just two more wins to lift the women's doubles title.

That said, Kudermetova/Timofeeva will not be an easy opponent by any means. Janice and Williams will need to maintain their consistency and effective game play to preserve their chances of progressing to the Guangzhou Open 2026 final.
