Manchester United once again failed to break their negative run after falling to a 0-2 defeat against Chelsea in the ongoing 2026/2027 English Premier League fixture. Hosting the match at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, 31 October 2026, Chelsea sealed all three points as the Red Devils left the stadium without a single point.
This result only extends Manchester United's miserable spell. The club has now gone nine consecutive matches without victory across all competitions, including six straight winless games in the Premier League.
Both goals for Chelsea's victory were scored by Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer respectively. The three points lifts The Blues to 4th position in the provisional standings, with 16 points collected from nine matches played.

Manchester United meanwhile remain rooted in 16th place. They have only accumulated seven points from nine matches, according to official Premier League statistics.
Manchester United Failed To Capitalise On Created Chances
The match played out in an open manner right from the first half. Manchester United actually managed to create multiple dangerous attacking opportunities, but poor final finishing meant they could not take the lead over Chelsea.
United's clearest chance arrived in the 18th minute through Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder received Bryan Mbeumo's cross on a fast counter attack, before firing a left-footed shot from inside the penalty area.
Unfortunately, his attempt sailed well over Chelsea's crossbar.
Further attacking threats came from Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, however Chelsea's defence successfully neutralised every attacking sequence built by the away side.
At the other end, Chelsea repeatedly attempted to unlock Manchester United's backline through Estevao. These efforts did not produce results however, as United Goalkeeper Senne Lammens put on an alert performance between the posts.
Manchester United briefly celebrated a goal in the 34th minute. Matheus Cunha met Harry Maguire's cross with a headed finish that found the back of Chelsea's net.
This lead was immediately revoked however, as the referee disallowed Cunha's goal after ruling the striker was in an offside position.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock by the end of the first half, leaving the score level at 0-0.
Morgan Rogers Opens The Scoring For Chelsea
Chelsea emerged far more clinical with their chances in the second half. The home side finally took the lead in the 50th minute through Morgan Rogers.
The goal originated from a combination play with Romeo Lavia. Rogers received a short pass from his teammate before driving forward into Manchester United's defensive zone.
Once inside the penalty box, the Chelsea player hit a well-placed lobbed shot that flew out of Senne Lammens' reach, putting The Blues 1-0 ahead.
Manchester United's situation deteriorated further in the 62nd minute.
Lisandro Martinez fouled Wesley Fofana inside the penalty box during a corner kick sequence. The Argentine defender raised his arm and made contact with Fofana's face.
The referee immediately awarded a penalty, and also issued Martinez a second yellow card. This decision left Manchester United forced to see out the rest of the match with only 10 players.
Cole Palmer Seals Chelsea's Victory
Chelsea had the chance to extend their lead from the awarded penalty. Entrusted as the taker, Cole Palmer successfully converted the spot kick.
Even though Senne Lammens correctly read the shot direction and dove to his right, the ball still crossed the line into Manchester United's goal.
This 64th minute goal put Chelsea 2-0 up, applying even greater pressure on the visiting side.
The Blues almost added a third goal in the 71st minute through Estevao, however this strike was also disallowed after the Chelsea player was judged to have been offside.
Manchester United did not surrender despite trailing by two goals and playing a man down. The side continued to push for a way back into the match right until the final moments.
United's best late chance came during injury time, when Bryan Mbeumo struck a clean volley. Unfortunately the effort clipped Mike Penders' fingertips before crashing against the crossbar.
No further goals were scored before the referee blew for full time. Chelsea closed out the match with the 2-0 victory to claim three vital points, while Manchester United are left with yet another disappointing result in the 2026/2027 English Premier League.
