Persija Jakarta faces a critical test in their bid to defend top position in the BRI Super League 2026/27 Standings. The Kemayoran Tigers will travel to Dewa United Banten FC's home ground for Matchweek 8, kicking off at Banten International Stadium, Serang on Saturday 31 October at 19.00 WIB.
This fixture pits the two best performing sides of the early season against one another. Persija lead the table with 18 points from 7 matches, while Dewa United sit in 2nd place trailing with 14 points.
Per official I.League standings, Persija have recorded six wins and one defeat so far. The capital club have posted impressive attacking output with 17 goals scored, having only conceded 6 times. Their +11 goal difference stands as a clear marker of their strong form this campaign.

Shin Tae-yong is not yet satisfied even though Persija Jakarta have won all three of their opening matches in the Super League.
Dewa United have claimed four wins, two draws and one loss. Nicknamed the Banten Warriors, they have scored 12 goals and conceded 10. Their +2 goal difference highlights significant room for improvement for the hosts, most notably in defensive organisation.
That said, league position will not be the only defining factor in this match. Dewa United hold a promising home record: across three fixtures hosted at Banten International Stadium this season, they remain unbeaten with two wins and one draw.
Shin Tae-yong Warns Persija Against Complacency
Persija arrive with high confidence following their strong opening run. Their victory over Persik Kediri in the previous matchweek secured their hold on first place.
Despite this, Shin Tae-yong has refused to let his squad grow comfortable with their early success. The South Korean head coach has ordered his side to move on quickly from their last win and fully refocus on the upcoming fixture.
"I always remind the players not to get carried away with celebration. They can enjoy the result for one or two days, after that all focus must return to preparing for the next match," Shin stated during Friday's pre-match press conference.
This warning is well founded. Dewa United are not an opponent to be underestimated, especially when playing in front of their home supporters. A home win would cut the gap between Dewa United and Persija down to just one single point.
Conversely, Persija can extend their lead to seven points if they take all three points on the road. For this reason, the Match Result of this fixture will have major implications for the top of the table title race.
Shin fully understands the stakes of this clash. He confirmed that while he expects a hard fought contest, his minimum target is for Persija to leave Serang with at least one point.
"This is an extremely important match, it pits first against second right now. Even though we are the away side, we absolutely have to come away with at least a point," he added.
Dewa United Learning From Arema FC Away Defeat

Dewa United will be determined not to let Persija pull further clear at the top. Their heavy 0-4 away defeat to Arema FC the previous week was a major blow for Osmar Loss' side, ending their six match unbeaten run.
Loss confirmed his squad have analysed and taken lessons from the poor result in Malang. He has called on his players to refocus, and not allow the defeat to impact their preparation for Persija's visit.
Nevertheless, Dewa United still hold a positive home record. Two wins and one draw from three matches at Banten International Stadium confirms they are a very difficult side to beat on their own ground.
Speaking from the Persija camp, Stjepan Loncar is anticipating a tough contest. The Kemayoran Tigers midfielder acknowledged Dewa United carry a distinct home field advantage.
"We are expecting this will be a very difficult match, but we are ready for the challenge. We have prepared extremely thoroughly, and we cannot wait to take the pitch tomorrow," Loncar commented.
Persija will need to maintain balanced, disciplined play to avoid giving the hosts space to attack. With 17 goals scored across seven matches, Persija's forward line remains their greatest weapon.
At the same time, they will have to absorb sustained pressure from Dewa United, who require a full three points to stay in contention at the top of the table.
This fixture is about far more than just three league points. Persija are looking to prove their consistency as league leaders, while Dewa United will aim to show that their heavy defeat to Arema was not an accurate reflection of their true quality.
With just four points separating the two sides, this duel at Banten International Stadium sets up a thrilling early season showdown. Persija travel looking to cement their dominance at the summit, while Dewa United aim to use home advantage to hand the league leaders their second defeat of the campaign.
